Want to ask a question.
Am going to do some minor renovation at my new place and it's fibre ready. But i want to hack the wall where the termination point sits.

Is this the correct process
1) Ask opennet to relocate the termination point before i hack the wall.
2) Hack the wall
3) Ask opennet to return and install the termination point at the new location. OR can i sign up with a provider to get free termination point?

Point 1 would have a charge right?
Did i get the process right?

ask the new isp whether they can relocate for free since they always give free tp installation.

Point 1 & 3 are both chargeable. Each charge is $220 for hdb residential.

But if its me, I just pay for point 3. Basically I whack the **** out of the wall first, then pay $220 ask them repair, rather than pay them $440 just to shift here and there.

If my room has a wall lan port, does that mean I can just connect the router to it in my room while the TP is in my living room?

Yes if this lan is linked to the ONT in the living room and this lan must be at least cat.5e if your plan is > 100Mbps.

Ok, thanks!
Do you know if there is any way to test if the lan cable is cat.5e? Or the Singtel guy will have equipment to check?

Opennet/NetLinkTrust appointment time 9am. It is 10:20am. They have yet shown up...

The NetLinkTrust appointed fibre installer also turned up late for my appointment. The appointment time supposed to be 10.30am - 12.30pm. The installer came late at 12.30pm and complete my TP installation ard 2.15pm. Wasted my whole AM waiting for their arrival and got to take urgent PM leave due to it.

Is there of any use if call up Netlinktrust to feedback on it?

Appointment time 10.30am - 12.30pm means if they arrived within this period, they are not late...

Installation is not be completed within the stated time frame?

it is always difficult to tell the actual time taken for the installation as every case is different. If for a totally new home which is without furniture yet then the actual installation will be very smooth provided there is no unforeseen circumstances. Imagine if the installation at your place take longer than expected then the next customer appointment will be affected.
Generally, if they come within the appointment period or slightly late then we normally will accept. But when they are very late and doesnt inform us in advance then we will tell them off.................

Fibre is not new at all. OpenNet was formed back in 2008 and started rolling it out to residences since then. It is now 2015. Its been 7 years. Considering what a small country Singapore is, you would have thought that 7 years is PLENTY of time to get every single residential unit wired up. Apparently not. There have been many excuses from OpenNet.

And some people were shocked to find out that even after the TP was installed in their room, that was not all as OpenNet had to come back to "activate" it after you sign up with a RSP. I was one of those who got this crap back in my old house. One would have thought its common sense to install the TP AND activate the damn thing altogether! :s8:

Seems like some people are still having challenges getting OpenNet (or whatever they call themselves now) to install the TP. Hard to believe there is still a queue for installation of TP. Likewise for Nucleus Connect side. In this day and age there is still problems with provisioning? Seriously??!!

fuss-free installation

Just had the FTP installed last monday. Schedule was 9-10:30 AM.
First NLT guy came at 8:30 to install cables and a placeholder for the FTP. After that he said another guy will come to install the FTP itself. Around 10:30, second NLT guy came and installed the FTP, tested(working) and left.

So later at night, I connect my existing Zhone modem from VQ and let them provision my line and was up and running.
(note: this was a relocation)
