Hi Guys. Just got the XB27HU and just wondering how much more % of power will i be looking to get if i got a non-ref 980 ti? Should I spend some money now or just wait till the next step up from this?
Dont bother. Just safe your money on a better gpu next time round. You go from ref to non ref at most its gonna give you a mere 5% performance gain.
just curious idjekyll can u really feel the diff with gsync?
to be honest gsync is awesome. it mainly shines when going below 60fps for me since im on a single gpu set up. dipping arounnd 40-70fps does not produce stuttering at all which im totally happy about. if you don't on your fps counter, you would be hard pressed to differentiate 40fps and >70fps.
Bro, so u using only a single 980 ti for 4k monitor?to be honest gsync is awesome. it mainly shines when going below 60fps for me since im on a single gpu set up. dipping arounnd 40-70fps does not produce stuttering at all which im totally happy about. if you don't on your fps counter, you would be hard pressed to differentiate 40fps and >70fps.
I'm not sure if it's just me or what, because while I was using U3415W I'll notice stuttering on games, but after I upgraded to 4K screen, I've not noticed much stuttering at all. Maybe something to do with 4K resolution? I'm not sure as can't really test it without a 4k gsync lol.
That being said, I'm still missing the 21:9 aspect ratio for both gaming and movies, even for documentation. 21:9 is by far the best resolution to use for everything, except watching TV shows that are recorded in 4:3. Even a 21:9 has more working space than a 4k due to scaling issues
So now for me, it is either 21:9 or 4k!
Bro, for the 21:9 resolution watch youtube got black bars at both sides right? Not irritating meh? Most games but not all supports 21:9 then will have black bars at the side also?
Hunting for a new monitor, current still on 1080p. Play Witcher 3 max settings only 40% GPU with vsync. lol
I cannot go 21:9. Bluray to some the cinema lines are just last warning, although there are blurays that will show full screen. But its just minority.
I will still go for standard 16:9 16:10.

Most blurays disc are recorded in 1080p or 720p.
Which is why widescreen is something i not willing to move forward to.
Downloaded ones are very different. They reconverted all the movies resoultions and formats so that mostly can be played by normal media players and also the ratio they changed it. Which is defeats the purpose of enjoying bluray in proper standard .bdmv format.
Sorry i support original whenever it comes to movies or musics.
From the looks of it, im still waiting for UHD blurays. Which will be coming soon. For that they may or may not have the ratios for different screen ratios.
But I thought it is the other way round? Most new movies nowadays are filmed in 2.4? And they are actually converted to 1.78 for Blu Ray disc in order to fit all standard TVs since most people are using 1.78 at home and not Cinemascope?
Last time for movies, those filmed in 2.4 Cinemascope I'll watch on my U3415W, but those aren't, I'll watch with my rooms TV.
Finally found the culprit that is hurting my media players... Stupid EVGA Precision X16... it always hangs my Media players when playing Video for awhile in Windows 10, be it VLC WMP or Classic or TotalMedia. Accidentally closed EVGA PX16 and watch videos and no issues at all...
Guess I will switch afterburner again, even tho it doesn't work well with Far Cry 4 lol![]()
