hmm... did some googling and saw that smaller bandwidths may actually give a speed boost. I was on the default 80MHz. I guess I'll try the 20 or 40MHz later. Thanks.

Ok. Did the tests on the channel bandwidth. 80MHz is by far the fastest, giving me the 250-290Mbps. But the 20MHz was actually faster than 40MHz, giving 70Mbps vs. 60Mbps.

So any advice on what I could do to move towards that 1Gbps speed? :o

i cant test for you cos my internet only 200M itself haha.
But one thing is to go for 80MHz bandwidth cos that's one of the ways to maximise throughput.

maybe u wanna try use inSSIDer to check if you're using a channel used by others too.
Also, maybe try with another device, I don't know but maybe your laptop is the bottle neck?

How you do your speedtest?

Hi guys. If we use a usb 3.0 wireless adapter, and if a cradle is required, the cradle will have to be usb 3.0 to utilise the transfer speed right? Can usb 3.0 hub if cradle is not available?

Yes, although depending on your signal strength etc., you might not even hit usb2's max speed.

USB by large is a shared bus path, so bandwidth is reduced if there is/are other usb devices connected and in use.

Not only the speed. Must also see the power requirement. USB2.0 is only 5V 500mA while USB3.0 is 900mA.

I think d-link dwa-192 is ok... was tempted to buy cos of the unique shape and read on TechHive on its performance. Straits Times yesterday also had a review on it... I think by far, its the fastest usb adapter according to them. Comex selling $89 (UP $109 at Challenger).

Looks like quite a disappointment for a 3x3 adapter, barely faster than a 2x2.

IMO judging from the review, get the DWA182 at $39 for a 20% drop in speed only at further distances. Performance should be similar to the AC56 tested, same chipset.

You got the review of DWA-182? Actually, I'm a bit of sicker for unique design but yah ... later go d-link booth at suntec level 6 and ask them lo...

i got the d-link dwa-182 ac wifi adapter at comex. $39. comes with cradle and usb3.0. signal and range is very good. maintain max link rate of 867mbps in the next room, very satisfied.

only bad thing is that i dislike adapters that require separate driver installation, but it's just me.
by you have cradle, my do not have.
must call them to check.

im looking at the specs of DWA-182 and DWA-192:

DWA-192:
USB3.0
Dual Band
AC1900
Selectable 5GHz up to 1300 Mbps / 2.4GHz up to 600 Mbps
UP: $109

DWA-182:
Dual Band
AC1200
Selectable 5GHz up to 867 Mbps / 2.4GHz up to 300 Mbps
UP: $49

I mean, if budget is a constraint and IF the results are not too different, I would think DWA-182 may be better. But then again, I have not tested on both products before, so cant say much.

If i not mistaken, the recent COMEX offers for DWA-182 is $39 and DWA-192 is $89. :)

I still considering the DWA-192 especially when i bring out my notebook to use with Hotel's WiFi when the Notebook built-in WiFi is weak to connect to it. :D

The Blue Light looks quite tempting ah...

You may want to highlight the part on the USB2.0 vs USB3.0 too.. you will most likely hit the limit of the USB 2.0 before you reach the max for WiFi transfer speed. I've done a simple review for the DWA-192 in the other thread.

Nevertheless, the DWA-192 does look very much better than the DWA-182.. :p

Has anyone been able to use a 3x3 wireless adapter to connect to their AC router at 1300Mbps constantly?
I understand 1300Mbps is a theoretical speed and but it is very disappointing to see my ASUS PCE-AC68 connecting at 867Mbps even when it is right in front of my router
This is the same speed as my DLINK DWA-182 but the DWA-182 is one third the price
You pay for what you get, my DWA-182 is not as stable as my ASUS PCE-AC68 but I have no problem getting the full 200Mbps of my Singtel Fibre from both adapters
Is there any way to configure my ASUS PCE-AC68 to connect at 1300Mbps or 1000Mbps with a DLINK DIR-880L AC1900 router or a ASUS RT-AC3200?
