sharp tv

I have a LE820 Aquos 40 inches sharp tv and I am not able to power it on. Before that it will die off when the heat is just too high.

This is the quote I got from Sharp TV units. You think below will solve the heat issue?

Power unit : S$180.00
Main unit : S$310.00

Any good comments or suggestions?

Thanks.

How old is your TV? I rather pay $80 than to bring my TV all the way to them to be checked and pay say $20-$30.

Anyway, I Google-ed and YouTube-ed how to troubleshoot my own TV and it seems that the panel is spoilt. So bo bian liao ... must buy new one.

Thanks. Got another TV...still went back to Samsung with ext warranty this time. Just my luck it chose to spoil just after 3 years.

My LG 42LV5500 42" LED TV also got problem about 20-30 days after warranty expired.

I left the TV at a corner for about 3mths, took it out a few days ago, power it up and guess what, can watch again. I turned it off and back on again, cannot watch liao. But leaving it on for awhile, can watch again.

I left is on playing MV from thumbdrive for about 1hr+ and still playing. Then I turned it off and then back on and left it on there for awhile, cannot watched liao.

I suspect it's the T-Con board fault because still got backlight and got power. Ordered the T-Con board from Aliexpress for about SGD$22, now waiting for it to arrive to test.

If still cannot, bo bian liao, need to buy new TV liao.

A warning to get LG TV and just to share my experience on their warranty.

I have a 47" LG (I think 47LM6900) and it was spoilt after ard 2 years and it was lightly used. Called up LG and was told that my unit has 3 years warranty as I had registered on the LG website.

However, they told me that I have to get my receipt ready before they come down otherwise LG would charge me $214 for diagnostics. I told them I had misplaced my receipt and they replied they cannot honor the warranty without the receipt (bla bla bla in the fine print). I questioned them the rationale of registering LG appliances with their website and they told me it is just for record purpose.

I end with departing shot by telling them off I rather dump the TV or give away to gana guni than to repair the TV.

My previous Panasonic Plasma lasted more than 5 years and I had given away to my relative and it is still working now. No more LG or korea TV for me anymore!!!

I have some "problems" with my Samsung 26inch tv.
The tv has 2 hdmi ports but one shown full screen, another shown shrink with black portion at both end. May I know what the reason for this?
HDMI 1 - for PC
HDMI 2 - gaming console
Thinking to switch one of my hdmi port 1 to vga might solve the problem.

Hi any recommendations for a plasma tv repair guy? I think should be pretty straight forward, I have a big black vertical bar with some colorful pixels going vertically down inside.

It's a 50 incher

For Tv it is either the motherboard or the powerboard or the TV screen. It look like your screen is faulty and it will cost > $1k to replace the screen. Suggest you get a new LG Tv with extended warranty (5 yrs).

My Samsung UA46D5000 has this flickering issue. Anyone can provide some tips on repair or suggest what could be the problem? Samsung helping is not helpful and having their technician to perform diagnostic will burn me $80 even I do not decide to repair after the diagnosis.

This is the issue.

Not too sure why the video does not play on my computer but this is the link to the youtube video.

If this Tv is still under warranty then i would exercise the warranty. If warranty is over, i will get a new LG Tv and get extended 5 yrs warranty because just the motherboard will cost > $160 and do not forget still need to pay for labour cost. It will cost $200+ to repair.

Capacitor dried up or bloated.
Nowadays we will have to buy the whole motherboard and not allowed to change just the capacitor individually like old CRT Tv so replacement of such motherboard is expensive. That's not all, after sometime another problem may pop up again.

I always suggest buying extended warranty. Different model has different servicing price. Earlier my Sony 4-6 months need to exercise warranty and 3 yrs repair 6 times. On the 4 yrs, extended warranty replaced it. I suggest getting another budget LG Tv with extended warranty. Sony outsourced their warranty service so 6 times cost Sony a lot. Motherboard is $160 + tech $160 × 6 times. For my case Sony actually loss $.

They recover from others who bought the extended warranty but do not need the service. Good luck or bad luck, depending on how you look at it.
