Just to check, does the ax40/ax41 clean-ness sensors turn blue like almost immediately whenever the selector is at 'strong mode'?

Many people, including doctors, say that air conditioning is effective.

I respectfully disagree.

Did a test. 9000 btu/hr in a very small room of 2.7m x 3.6m (the new BTO bedrooms, small until kaopeh). SO the aircon FCU : room area ratio is extremely high. ie a lot of aircon fins/surface area for the room volume.

This is the bestest case scenario for aircon to make a difference.
Took nearly 1 hour to drop from 96 ug/m3 -> 72 ug/m3.....and likely not to go below 50 ug/m3 due to external loading. In a severe haze episode, it is likely not to reduce by much due to heavy external loading. And this is among the best case scenario, big aircon, small room. Ratio is good and advantage skewed towards the aircon.

And note : This is probably because the aircon compressor is running and there is condensation water formed on the heat exchanger fins, which aids in trapping the fine smoke particles with the air running over them. No water, no drop in PM2.5 concentration. You see the temperature on the thermo, you know already, it can drop from 30 deg down to 22 deg in 1 hour, it's a small room and big FCU. It cannot gun continuously for 12 hours, 24hrs, or in our recent case 48 hours high concentration (not much use also).....either it gets really cold (it can hit 17 deg C in my small room if external is not hot)or you risk getting the compressor uplorry.

Afte 11.46, ran air purifier for 8 minutes , 72 ug/m3 -> 1 ug/m3

For comparison, even 3M Filtrete eats it for breakfast. 20 minutes run only (though at lower concentrations)

WRX, thank you very much for your test. If by any chance, do you have duck filters from amazon, is okay for you to do AC + (amazon) duck filter test?

Where you got it from? What size?

I went to Watsons an Guardian. Got S and M for my girls. Large is oos. 3M one now stack high and Air+ sold out. Haven't tried it yet personally, but it's really soft.

This would be helpful for sizing. Measure from tip of chin to eye. Choose size nearest to measurement.

Small: 10cm
Medium: 12cm
Large: 13.5cm

As an estimate, 3M 8210 is Air+ in medium.

Thanks! I went around looking for L size, but all OOS. Wonder when will they re-stock. Thinking of getting the ventilator as well.

Still waiting for my unit to arrive. Do you think it is kinda overkill for a small room in a 4-room flat?

not really overkill...you can put it in the living room if you want...I just got my unit today so can't really comment much...

Any reason why the air inlet is designed at the rear of the unit?
My personal opinion is that air should go in from the front and out from the top.

It doesn't matter as long as you don't put it against the wall... Got one video that WussRedXLi posted before on Sharp in a smoked room.

Edit: ok now that I think back dunno got video or not :s13: but for sure it doesn't matter. Only thing is cannot placed against the wall

What time did you see it? I was there around 4pm, the sales person said no stock. I didnt see any also.

I saw it yesterday...I saw a lot of L size...Honestly, I prefer the M size as I just need it to cover my mouth and nose...

Is it common to see the air purifier written at the front of the box as AX5000?

Yep, AX5000 is legit.
