I thought us 8 should be able to fit 42. Assuming urs is us 8

Sent from OnePlus A0001 using GAGT

he said UK8, which is US 9.. and the trees are too big for US9 shoes..

If size 42 trees can fit into US8 shoes for you, then it is really weird and makes buying shoe trees that much more tentative.

mine is EU 42 / UK8 / US 8.5 approx for both shoes, yeah idk why didnt fit. on the contrary my LLYR shoe trees fit them both perfectly. :/ i guess it may be better to get lasted shoe trees from the same brand itself, greater piece of mind

Mine is like UK7.5. According to herringshoes site is 41.5 EUR and US 8.0. I stuff 42 in. Tb sizing abit off. That's why cannot.

whoa i see. normally if my size is a half size i will get the lower sizing instead of the higher sizing. but yeah gotta agree on the inconsistency.. such things are bound to happen with TB sellers

LLYR Entry level are $297, while Ed are $349, correct? If u are willing to spend a bit more, get Loake 1880 range calf leather shoes online from robinsonshoes. Slightly more than $360 after discount and free delivery. The Loake leather are soft and ages well.

Ed previous collection creases badly. The current 6th collection still too new to be judged.

Is Loake 1880 a significant step up from LLYR? My worry with Loake is the fit issue as I'm keen on the Rothschild model (duke last) that is a E width and not available in robinsons dept store for me to try. I did try their F width last on the Strand model and I had to size down due to the width. I do prefer my shoes to tend to have a sleeker look.

Also, where would Meermin fit into this equation? Leather quality-wise.

Thanks

Something cool that I'd thought I would share from my correspondence with certain makers. This is from C&J;

+++
We have not made these George boots since the 1970’s, they were made for Army Officers and unfortunately we do not have the lasts or the pattern any more.

We could have something very similar made. Our Chiltern boot would be the most similar, this is very close in terms of shape but not quite as tall as the George boots. Spurboxes would not be available.
+++

Talk about History and Provenance! Really interesting, when delved into, to see how the majority of modern formal wear today has their roots in the European officer corp, and by extension the landed, riding gentry.

For Eg, Bluchers (Derbies) arnt called that for nothing and their provenance actually hails from military boots designed by the German Marshal who defeated Napoleon at Waterloo :s13:

Well, just tidbits for the folks who do appreciate history and stuff =P

P.S Shaft Height of a George Boot is 13-14cm from top of welt to top of quarters. Chukkas are usually around 9-11cm tall. Got this info from another maker making for the Brit Army.

Loake 1880 is slightly better than LLYR. IMO LLYR and Meermin (normal line, not LM) are about the same (LLYR uses Ilcea calf for some of their new models even).

Outside of materials, GYW in England, GYW in Vietnam, GYW in China all uses the same machines. Primarily the most important differentiating factor is the QC which is different. England > Vietnam = China

At this price point its all about last shape and ease (+price) of comission customisability.

Ends midnight Monday 5-Oct. For those thinking to get Loake and Barker, this is a good deal.

Shoe care product, matching leather belt also entitled to the discount. Can get the Collonil 1909 shoe cream/wax.
