Getting both together comes at a pretty steep cost. Does anyone know of alternative case for iPad mini 4 that is compatible with the original smart cover?

I am waiting for tuneware eggshell. Using it for my ipad mini 2 with smart cover, very nice combo.

The eggshell for mini 4 is out but not yet reaching the stores here.

Steep cost no doubt but the feel and fitting is the best out there. U see, the Apple silicon case when placed the iPad in, its sides all around is slightly protruding and the Apple smart cover's design actually when closed, the 'grooved' edges around the cover sits flushed the silicon cover.

which color of ipad mini 4 is worth to buy? if currently using ipad mini 1 space grey.

gold seems to be nice, but space grey looks not bad too.

The first gen iPad mini is slate, similar to iPhone 5. I've been using black/slate/space grey since iPhone 3GS and last year I decided to go gold for my iPhone 6 plus for a change.

I used to own the iPad mini in slate as well and then mini 2 in space grey, now mini 4 in gold. I also decided to go for rose gold in my upcoming iPhone 6s Plus.

So colour choice is very subjective but if you really want an opinion, I'd say gold for the mini 4.

Yes the slate is a very nice colour, giving the device a very sleek, stealth look. Guess Apple removed this colour as the coating for the slate is well known to peel off after a while of use.

As compared to the mini 4 now, the first mini is very slow and has a low-res screen.

Just received nano tech TG protector from Qoo10. It is of good quality, satisfied with it. It seems to leave about 0.5 to 1.0 mm near the edge uncovered to cater for any cases you might have.
Just to share my experience.

Buy from local store, and take your time to check thoroughly. Bought my iPad Air 2 at the store and only found a perfect set when they opened the 3rd box.

First 2 sets had speck of dust inside the screen. Very minor, but since I am buying at the store, they have to change on the spot.

Ipad for all the generations had dust inside LCD problem. Some more obvious, some less obvious. No big deal if you dont mind about it.

True about the exchanging/returning of the product. But if buy from store they'll open it up and let you check on the spot. Last time my first gen mini was like that but fortunately, none of any Apple products I buy have such defects.

As of now, Apple online store is being updating again.

Not only that, the service centre won't do one to one exchange, but will repair the set even if you bought it within a few days. Pretty bad after sales, I must say.
