at the end of the day its flowrate x filter efficiency.

flowrate is the most important if efficiency is more than 95%. an increase of 1% will make little difference for a machine that can push 300-400m3/h of clean air

Also more importantly filter replacement cost and availability. e.g. Dyson and Balmuda filter not cheap at all. Also other criteria include footprint(size), noise and power consumption and user interface.

The dyson filter has better performance but does not necessary mean the purifier is better than the other brands.

Well, yeah. Esp when we already have Euro V and Euro VI is coming into effect. UFP isn't that big an issue..... But yes, if you are living beside a main roadside, expressway, sliproad, you might wanna consider UFP performance.

The Sharp "H13" HEPA (from Sharp D series) performs 25000/160000 = 84% efficient.

Single pass = 84%. Multiple passes = A-ok.
With enough airflow gunning or MORE IMPORTANTLY the ACH figure, UFP filtration at 0.05 to 0.1 realm should be very decent. I mean, heck.....you are not aiming for cleanroom 10,000 right?

That said, I'd love to have the CADR figues of the Dyson. I am not 100% sure that all the airflow output at the aperture is filtered air. I wonder if it is mixed significantly with room air at the output.

I believe the Dyson is not that ex. I think I saw it selling at S$75 @ Best Taka.

published data 418l/s
http://www.dyson.com.sg/fansheaters/purifier/pure-cool/pure-cool-iron-blue.aspx

conversion to m3/h as used by ap manufacturers yield 1487m3/h which is a joke.

for a company to so proudly claim they have the best filter and yet not publish proper cadr figures makes me think all these are just marketing crap.

Dyson claim that they have no blades in their fan.

As you can see, there's a impeller(still blade based) here:

I bought the AX40 filters from GoniGlobal (this link) and it took almost 2 weeks to reach.

I'm slightly concerned that the filters (2 pieces) came in clear plastic without the original box and the only protection was some cardboard. :s11: I was expecting the original boxes since the reviews on that page showed that :s22:

what's the smell like?

hmm I can't really describe it, its not anything too offensive. I don't notice it after a few minutes

I would say typical filter smell cos it is starting to smell like my Panasonic AP which hasn't had a filter changed in 3 years....

Wow, that figure sure is pretty high....even if it's 417 m3/hr. But where did you see litres per second?

you go my link and see specifications.

I think the figure is right but it is not cadr because the fan works by creating a low pressure to pull in surrounding air.

so actual cadr should be a lot lower but we just don't know how much.

bladeless on the exterior so its also child safe.

but ya they still need something to suck up the air

Same as mine. I bought pretty early when they were selling at $75 each...
Any idea how we can get in touch with Qoo10?
I'm kinda unhappy cos
1) I ordered 27 Sep. Only receive now after seller delay and I keep chasing
2) the filters are not in original box as pictured
