If I made online hotel bookings via Expedia with "free cancellation" up to a certain date (say 18 Nov), does it mean that Expedia will only charge to the card on 18 Nov, & post transaction a few days later ?

Would it still be online transaction as there was no SMS authorisation when I made the reservation.

TIA

No, it would still be charged immediately and they would refund into your card if you cancel

can i clarify that if u received $60 as rebate from last mth (oct), do u have to spend $600 or $660 to hit the requirement for this mth (nov)'s quota for 7%? assuming the calender mth tally with the bill cycle...

$600 spending, rebate not taken into consideration for min spending

I am pretty sure it's counted as a online merchant but when I call SCB they say have to check with visa if they categorize PayPal as online merchant.

Paypal key merchants should be online. Eg paypal groupon

Online i rather use prepaid cards safer 7 percent with I cards

I assume if I'm an existing customer of the bank they would use the existing record of my signature. But new one leh?

when buying something in a shop the cashier can choose to verify the signature on the receipt with the signature on the back of the card. When does the bank need to use the signature?

Hmmm no need??? Means whatever you sign doesn't matter? I always thought the transaction slips would get submitted to bank in the event of any conflict (like unknown transactions charged) and bank would know if signature is not yours and would not make you pay.. Or something like that. :s11:

I rem they always send a courier over to sign the documents before proceeding. And some will still request for copy of payslip even though I;ve already attached to the application form.

Most banks new signups do require you to mail in the application form..

Unless if you submit payslip and ic online then I don't know. Most banks other than scb don't offer everything submit online :D

For what i know, whatever signature you sign on the application form need not tally to the cc signature coz when you make payment, the staff will tally with the signature signed on the cc. ;)
