Hi experts, I'm a noobie trying to find some nice yet affordable watches to wear.

Last Dec I was in love with watches with bezels, hence I bought a Seiko SNP055P1. I'm still wearing this til today and still loving the looks of it.

This year, I'm suddenly struck by the existence of a moonphase in a watch. I found the Longines Master Collection L2.739.4.71.3, like how it looks, but it is out of my budget (think it costs about 3-4k?).

I also saw another Seiko, SRX008P1, like how it has the moonphase and the Kinetic Direct Drive technology. I think it cost slightly above 1k.

I'm not sure if I should save up for the Longines, or go for the Seiko. But then again, I not sure if I want another Seiko in my collection (esp I just bought one 11 months ago).

Anyone has any other choices to recommend me please?

Frederique Constant and Baume & Mercier have some moonphase watches at lower price points than Longines. Although some may not consider these brands 'true' Swiss brands with long history like Longines.

If it were me, I would rather go for something my heart truly desires than settle for something else I don't really yearn for. Also, during the time of saving up, maybe your tastes and desires may change and you may find yourself wanting something else in the horolological spectrum (other than a moonphase) instead.

Watches, especially so-called luxury watches are after all not neccesities, so they are not anything that one needs to rush out to get anyway. I think it's good to take a longer term perspective.

Main issue is setting the minute hand, hour hand with the GMT hand moving as you turn the crown...

Strongly advise you to watch the youtube e video review to understand what I say

If you are someone who is very particular abt this then this will not appeal to you...

I am quite particular indeed. I did some research and I see that those issues are old (2000-2012?). Is the issue not yet rectified because I don't see newer posts about the issue.

Thanks Henabi! I see the model I'm looking for is sold out on their website. Let me know if there's stock at the store and pricing if possible too please.

I'd say leave it... cuz that's what makes the watch yours.

I'm quite lazy (or more like can't be bothered) to polish my watches too... Maybe when I send in for servicing, I might consider ba... o/w I just wear them as it is... already past the phase of "baby-ing" my watches.

My view now: Don't be a "slave" to one's belongings... and he/she should just enjoy it!

Butties... me heading to Jippun next month.

Anybody dealt with the grey dealers there before?

e.g. Jackroad, Houseki-Hiroba, MyWatch, Kame-Kichi etc.?

Might plan to pick up a watch or two if there are stock...

Bought one watch from Jackroad before. Service is pretty good. Can email them to help you source if no stock.

Can also reserve but preferably when you are going over very soon. If not, they will ask for deposit.

Gosh! It's a known problem and they have not fixed it? Guess I shall put my purchase off.

Are you going to get the OT 500? I might be interested, maybe we could share the shipping costs?
