Nope not necessarily. Some ppl could have let go of their high floor unit. Or there are projects where there's a lot of leftovers..

You can do it after you get your appointment date. Took less than 5 working days for mine.

it works de same as BTO. u haf to be married when getting the keys. sobf is jus that it is usually already built liao. u dun need to be married to APPLY for sobf.

u cannot apply for a specific block. u apply for the area (ie. choa chu kang) and after getting ur que number then u can choose the unit and block (ie. any unit in choa chu kang).

I see.. So if go down hdb at toa payoh able to see which flats is avail for choosing? There no penalty if you got selected to choose a unit but never see any that you like?

Lastly the whole selection till you choose the unit how many months it will take? Thank you so much for answering my doubts

yes. u can see online as well which flats are avail for choosing. if u got appt but nv select any units, u might lose one of ur 'first-timer' chances.

To manage repeated non-selection of flats by first-timers, please note that:

Those who were invited to select a flat but did not do so, will have their previous unsuccessful applications set to 0
Should an applicant reject 2 chances to select a flat, any and all first-timer privileges will be removed for a period of 1 year. Any flat applications made during this period will be placed together with second-timer applicants, and no additional ballot chances are given

whole selection differs for diff areas but usually takes a few months on avg. jus de releasing of the ballot results takes 1month+

My concern is if Im so lucky to get invited to select a flat and choose a flat that I and my so like.. Hmm so is by 3 months time need to get married?im worried of rushing the whole process as its a once in a lifetime

Apparently it's 3 months from taking the keys of the flat. So depending on which SoBF, got more time.

Plus you only need to produce the cert i.e. go ROM sign the paper. Can still have your big, once in a lifetime wedding stuff. Just no Justice of Peace then.
