many people in this thread speaking out against "brand whoring" somehow just reeks of hypocrisy to me, especially when the same people are sporting AP, PP and minimally rolex/omega watches.

affordability is one thing but IMO one wouldn't really spend 20-30k on a watch if he is not a brand ***** to a certain extent

also in before "love for horology"

Just beware what watch companies loh .some are using lousy part lousy movement but use marketing to sell expensive to you. Some are using good part good movement and use marketing to sell expensive to you. The former are downright scumbags.

There are also some who use good part good movement but poor branding.

Haha... Same like computer, everyone wants the TOP specs but do you really need it...? Most not. But AP PP Rolex are all Super luxury Brand to fiddle with. Even for my Dad he wants to grab a Rolex also because of its Brand but considering much even tho I say I'll pay half for him. It's got nothing to do with how it works, seriously doubt all those rich men know too hahaha.

Like I also don't know Tag Heuer is such a not recommended brand... Always thought it's good lol

this is what they call, enthusiast.

my god, seriously? haha

do you need a pc? or your phone can surf the net?
if so, just use a phone.
the list goes on and we are back in stone age.

to some, a watch of status is rolex.
to some, rolex is a work of art.
to some, rolex is gift to be passed down for ages.
to some... the list goes on.

there are many story that a watch can tell.

especially mechanical ones that is passed thru generations. because its not a pc/car etc, those will break down or rather be succeeded by a better version.

mechanical watches, if taken care of, can last for a lifetime.

this is why patek are so expensive, they ensure you that even 100 years down the road, your patek broke, they have the parts to fix it.

I like omega. Only one type. Snoopy speedmaster man on the moon edition.

to like the snoopy, you gotta like the first and standard edition of a speedmaster.

liking a collab is kinda useless if you don't even like the "standard" version of it.

no offence oops. haha

It used to be good. But that was many many years. Along the way, profit over people set in.

Dun get me wrong. I like speedmaster. They are very decent entry level with good history i.e.apollo.

But i only have eyes for the snoopy speedmaster.

My FT friend is a classic example. He wanted to buy a Tag until I convinced him that a Tudor is better. Then a few weeks later, he just walked into an Omega store and bought a Seamaster at retail price. I think he paid 5 digits for it, not sure.

Best thing is he hardly wears a watch and when it does, its an Apple watch. So far I've only seen him wore the Seamaster twice and the Tudor none!

their aquaracer was priced ok. I paid 1750 for a bracelet wab2010. solid watch. thrash it and still sold it for 900 after 5 years.

my first luxury watch. haha I guess we are all victims

their Carrera design not bad.

but Monaco was probably the iconic one

You were so lucky to own the first Swiss in a day before madcap inflation.

Speaking with a colleague, she talked about those days a long time ago, when an Omega could be had for under 2k. Those days are now over...

A five digit Seamaster? Probably a planet ocean titanium (which even an Omega insider once said not as good value as the Tudor Pelagos) or the 9300 chromos.

Okay must clarify. That guy posted as a semi anon on Reddit, but who works in Omega Australia. He said that not denying the Planet Ocean is a good product, but the value that Tudor can stack, even he thinks that there is no shame in buying one.

Agree nowadays the big thing in watches is the Apple watch or some variant of digital product.

To be fair.. The design of omega is pretty dull apart from the famed moonwatch. My favorite omega is still the constellation pie pan watch.... Almost pulled the trigger to get one via eBay... But was doubtful about how original it was

The Skyfall Aqua Terra is really nice though. I'd get it if I didn't already have my blue Oyster Perpetual..

唉。。。 。。。 。。。照你说,这样的话,我是永远当不了WIS了。。。
因为品牌来说,

我最便宜的是:

To each his own. If someone prefers the looks of the silver snoopy over the standard speedy pro. Who are you to tell him that he's wrong? Everyone is entitled to have their own tastes and preferences.
