Hmm it could be that they have exhausted / running low on their supplies of mainboards, thus requiring a lead time of 1 to 2 weeks.

i was lucky i got my phone back in time before this 'shortage'

if i sent my phone a week ago and now 1 week later i get this kind of message telling to wait 1-2 more weeks i would probably demand they extend my warranty by the amount of waiting time it took for the servicing because to me, an almost 1-month turnover time is beyond reasonable

"your experience may vary so dont be too quick to judge.." the quote is from your earlier post #6588.... :o just teasing you lah :s13: :)

yes, 2 weeks turnaround is quite excessive.

yeah i mentioned that in reply to a comment by someone who said that if you called their service centre, they "take very long to pick up", yet i got an instant pickup when i called.

And my G4 got serviced within 5 working days, but i didnt praise them cos I know it isnt because they were that good, but because i was lucky in terms of timing when the phone went in.

And now comes the 'unlucky' batch of people who didnt make it in time before motherboard spares begin to run low...

Guess you can follow LG's suggestion: Buy a second LG phone and use it while waiting for your current LG phone to fix :p

ironic actually, i thought LG can service quickly because they have a 'smaller' customer base than bigger brands like samsung. I forgot that if the customer base is smaller their support capabilities are probably also smaller...

Well, I found it a bit awkward when this someone says "don't be too quick to judge" and suddenly, starts judging quickly himself in post #6732. The ambiguous love/hate relationship with LG.. seems to be catching on with many including, myself. Anyway, water under the bridge.

Buy 2nd G4? :s13: Now my gut hurts...

Er to be clear when i said over half a month waiting time is unreasonable, that is not a judgement on how well LG has handled my own case (which to be fair, was pretty fast at 4 working days)

It was a judgement on service quality expectation from my personal threshold of 'willingness to wait'. Even if on the day itself when i gave the phone, if the counter guy was kind enough to tell me in advance to mentally prepare for 2-3 weeks wait, immediately on the spot i would say it's unacceptable that they take so long, that such a big company cannot invest the resources to prevent their turnaround time from dragging so long to such extreme degree.

(also i dont think i judged too quickly considering ive been here monitoring the situation for 2 weeks)

I would bring the same expectation to any service centre of any brand of phone that I own. Honeslty i dont think its unreasonable to want a spoiled phone to be fixed within 2 weeks, especially more so that the phone was spoiled due to an error on their part, not because i committed any human error that severely damaged the device.

However it may be rephrased it's there, for everyone to see and comprehend. Cheers!

Whats your SOT?

I am not a heavy user so dun pay attention to SOT as my battery always last at least 1.5 days .
After update to 6.0, battery seems to have improved.
My SOP for major update is:
1] carry out major update (eg. from 5.0 to 6.0).
2] do factory reset.
3] remove battery for about 1-2 minutes than put it back. use it normally for the next 7 days, then comment on the battery.
Fyi, I also optimized my G4 too.

Hmm, SOP is spot on! :)

I got mine back in 6 business days. Called them a couple of times and one time they mentioned mboard was out-of-stock. Try calling them after a week. Cheers.

so far through daily use of the G4 running on MM i seem to have found one bug regarding SD cards: Whenever the phone creates any new files on the SD card (be it through camera app taking photos or file manager copying files etc), when I plug the phone into the PC and try to view the files, the file is visible, but the size shows 0kb and sure enough the file cant be opened on the PC (it will say file is empty)

If i try to copy the file to my desktop, it's still a 0kb file when copied over.

if i take the SD card out of the phone and insert into my PC, i can see all the files no problem. It's only when the SD card is inside the phone that somehow, all the files created by the phone will show up as 0kb when viewed in the PC.

The stock LG apps (eg. file manager, camera) don't seem to suffer this issue but every 3rd party camera app or file browser that ive tried so far that tries to save photos to SD card, or copy files to SD card, all those files appear as 0kb when viewed on the PC.

If those same 3rd party apps create files on the internal storage, the PC can view them just fine. Its only when they create on the SD card that those created files appear as 0kb

Anyone else experienced a similar problem?

:(:(:(

S6's still waiting for MM update

Just a side note, it is not only irritating to see
the animating signature of yours, it would indeed
help us to enjoy the discussion at hand more
abundantly and seriously....instead of being disturbed
by the movement of your anime. Thank you in advance.
Sorry for the remark, apologize if it offend you. :)
