Day 14 - 18th November

In terms of Ise Shrine, the more famous part is the inner shrine (Naiku).

Outer and Inner shrine is a few km away, walking not that possible
There are buses linking both, but frequency...not that good

伊勢神宮 (内宮) by Liwei, on Flickr

The Inner Shrine worship Amaterasu, she is the Goddess of Sun and universe. In terms of Shinto religion, the emperors of Japan are descendants of this deity. That is why Ise Shrine is very important to Shinto and also Japan. The chief priest or priestess must come from the Imperial family of Japan.

伊勢神宮 (内宮) by Liwei, on Flickr

This is known as the Uji Bridge. Every 20 years will rebuild..

Then ise started raining...everytime i visit...

Purification before entering the shrine. Method is use right hand take the dipper. scoop water, wash left hand. Then transfer dipper to left hand, wash your right hand. Then wash left again. Some people will wash mouth..but i don't...water maybe not so clean.

Normally i bring along handkerchief in japan or else hand will be wet..

Some people will wash their hand here. But water is from Isuzu river which is the source and mouth of Ise city.

Step to Kotaijingu which is the main shrine of Inner shrine. beyond this point, cannot take photo already.

This shrine is known to hold sacred mirror which is one of three imperial Regalia. If you follow my thread, Atsuta shrine hold the sword and imperial palace in kyoto hold the jewel.

2. bow twice
3. Clap Twice
4. pray

Day 14 - 18th November

Took a bus down to Meoto Iwa

夫婦岩 by Liwei, on Flickr

Bus frequency in Ise area is quite awful. like once per hour or so..

夫婦岩 by Liwei, on Flickr

夫婦岩 by Liwei, on Flickr

Meoto Iwa is known as the Married Couple rocks. Larger rock is the male with Torii on top. The rope itself is the shinto shimenawa which is sacred. The rope must be replace few times per year.

The best time to view is when sunrise or sunset. I heard sometimes you can see mount fuji?~ not sure true or not

Day 14 - 18th November

Took another bus to Toba Aquarium. If you look at my route, i went from Ise Outer -> Ise Inner -> Oharamachi -> Meoto Iwa -> Toba Aquarium -> After that i can take train from Toba Station to Nagoya. It is all along the way, this is my planning which must be all on the way :s13:

鳥羽水族館 by Liwei, on Flickr

Aquarium itself in Japan not so cheap. Toba Aquarium cost 2500 which is like 5 times price of typical temples..

Just right for the seal performance

鳥羽水族館 by Liwei, on Flickr

Surprising, my new camera can capture the shot of seal leaping through the hulu hoop. my old Sony A7R is quite awful at focusing. A7Rii is miles ahead in this aspect.

Those student in front are from school of aquatic or something..Unique. not sure what they learn? Aquarium? Fishes?

Day 14 - 18th November

Since i am in Nagoya, one of the famous nagoya food is Tebasaki!
For Tebasaki, it is Yamachan. Although there are other chain also, but Yamachan is really common in Nagoya. You can also find Yamachan in Tokyo or Kyoto but not so common

I ordered a few tebasaki for takeout to my hotel room!
