True. But getting frame alone and buy the parts may be very expensive than u buy a whole bike. I did a simple calculation with my crius bike. Frame is 300

Depends bah.

There are people who buy frame only and customise from there.

I believe those bike makers make the most from selling those rubbish parts for low end models

Then for high end models they overcharge

the thing is, low end to high end, all also aluminum frame
(Not talking about those carbon bikes)

I amended my previous post to show my calculations.

Actually I would buy a mid range bike and use until components worn out then upgrade, or buy lower end and straight away upgrade most of the parts. High end ones usually i cannot afford. Shelling out 3 to 5k for top end bike, i can actually do my own upgrade at cheaper cost.

Hence based on our observation, the sweet spot should be the mid range bike with delayed upgrade. That is provided you can tolerate the mid range components for around 2 to 3 years to make it worth. For components my lowest threshold is 105 for roadbike and deore for mountain bike.

alot of $500-$900 bikes with rubbish parts...

might as well get a $300 bike and upgrade from there

Sad to say, there is a high chance that the $300 bike will be a **** frame with **** parts. So when you upgrade, it will be a **** frame with good parts.

So still not good.

My polygon win some dogma like that how?

In my opinion,
Engine -70%
Wheels set -29%
Frame-1%

Actually hor 3 to 5k is the sweet spot for road bike it will last you at least 3 4 years and relatively upgrade proof . A top end bike will cost upward of 10k

Looks like u didn't get my point at all and is just being dog butt hurt?

2 rider with same stamina and legs strength

One with bora ultra wheelset, same group set but common carbon frame.

One with Aleoca stock wheels , same group set but luxury carbon frame.

No prize for guessing who's the winner ^^

I am confused. So dogma is the one with aleoca stock wheels? Seems like too many variable factors in your comparison.

I see. Maybe i was having foldie in my mind then came to 3 to 5k. But in whichever case, i also reluctant to fork out that much. I tend to buy around 1k bike anyway. Or unless the deal is so compelling then i would go 3k. Something like ultegra groupset with carbon frame for a foldie would fit the bill but almost impossible i guess.

Most of the times, I prefer doing the upgrade on my own with the help of yt or with my friend supervision..

I also got consult handson on upgrade advise..wonderful blog he has, di2 on his broadwalk..

Should be changing the cassette on Sunday or Monday evening and also changing the stock shimano pads to the Clarkes one I ordered..

Personally, i feel the upgrading is not difficult.. its just troublesome, especially when i don't have a proper bike stand, all the required tools and spare washers/nuts/screws. Most of the time, one can figure out by just dismantling.

I remember i removed a brompton rear wheel without looking at any manuals/videos since its just held together by nuts.

You see, the way you did comparison is quite skewed. It is not an orange to orange comparison, it is like an apple to orange comparison.

When I said a $300 bike is probably a low-end frame with rubbish parts, it is probably those Hi-Ten Steel or those straight gauge aluminium.

I pretty sure your Polygon is already considered to have a DECENT frame, probably at least a triple-butted aluminium frame or carbon.

I am not saying you are wrong, but even if your engine is powerful.
Will you want to ride a $100 rubbish frame or a decent frame for a round island or race?

Don't say Polygon win Dogma. I can find those 29er MTB riders and I think they can even win some of the luxury-carbon road bikers.

What I'm saying is with 2 rider of the same ability, their legs n hearts matter most. the only part from bike that make significant difference at most is wheel set, group set just make the ride smoother, most carbon frame weight around 8 kg, brands n their decal matter nuts.
