Just changed to the carbon handlebar as intended, as well as a pair of Ergon grips GA1 Evo. So far so issues and my steering feels alot lighter! I made sure not to clamp and screw too tightly as suggested by fellow bros here though..just enough for everything not to shift about. Don't think it will be an issue unless you want to get those with bar ends. Initially I wanted to get the GP1 but I was worried about folding issues.

On the side note, I took DigDub's recommendation on the fabric scoop and it is really comfortable! Thanks!
Will gp1 really affect folding? I still prefer grip with palm rest. Hope it works for carbon bar.

What are the 2 red things at the clamp? Looks like some stopper brackets. How much are these and whether really necessary? Are they heavy?

What else did you upgrade?

From Ergon website faqs, some models with palm rest can be installed on carbon bars. I tried to estimate but I was worried that the palm grips will obstruct with the wheels when folded. Was worried I would buy for nothing.

Those red stuff are the lockrings for the handlebar. By right should help prevent shifting of the bar la..but I got it for cosmetic purpose only. $16 lol..quite light 30+g I think?

So far only the grips, handlebar and saddle. Saving for a lighter set of wheels though. Now getting poisoned for the carbon seatpost. From DigDub he mentioned they scratch easily though. Will it affect the integrity of the seatpost?

I think its more of carbon handlebar integrity issue after installing ergon grips.

As for folding, how does ergon gp1 affect folding?

My Ergon GP3 doesn't affect folding at all on s-bar brompton.

Is it? I didn't get to actually fit the gp1 and try though. I just felt that the palm rests of the gp1 will be too thick and touch onto the wheel rims and I cannot close fully. Yours still able to fold even with barends?

I asked earlier as well.. Seems like there's no definite answer...

Imagine a highly souped up birdy with ten speed ultegra drivetrain... plus a good quality wheelset.. i think it can replace a full sized bike easily.. Imagine having the performance and comfort of a full sized bike that can be kept inside your wardrobe.

I remember sayingthat there is a front derailleur mount.

Join the Birdy Singapore group and see their customisations lo. Haha. But your idea of performance in a wardrobe.

3k Birdy cannot fight with a 3k roadbike. That's for sure.

The fabric scoup is for upright or halfway? Maybe can solve my girlfriends butt pain problem. Lol
Brooks is too slippery and not broken in yet

Can I ask about the litepro seatpost? Do you fold your birdy regularly? If it is easily scratched, it shouldn't affect the seatpost integrity right?

Absolutely...=:p

GP1-S should be ok. Your folding is handlebar in between the wheels? Means fold the frame into half with the handlebar in between?

I installed ergon gp5 on my tern.. because the handlebar is outside during folding, it doesn't affect the folding.

As for brompton, the handlebar is also outside during folding. The only issue is that it may scrap the floor duirng folding and rolling.

No need fight with road bike. I am happy going at 30-32 kmh. ;)

How about the alignment? Somebody mentioned about how having double chainrings can cause alignment issues?

Ahh no wonder..ya mine is fold in between the wheels. That's why choices so limited. Folding inwards or outwards can be done by changing the handlebar post?

Not a problem for Birdy at that speed. Only depends on your preferred cadence or you like mashing gears.

I wouldn't know about alignment but I have seen quite alot of double chainring users. So it should be okay? But you go ask ewalker also hard to get answer. They not really responsive on Facebook.

And it won't be cheap. Haha

Wah.. you mean there are extra hidden charges?

I like using ultegra drive train. But unsure if 53t is sufficient. Need to test first..

hmmm... I seldom fold. I don't think it will affect the integrity much.
