Map update, albeit without any tangible progress. Those in the newly formed "Tampines East", good luck, coz you just joined the same timeline as Punggol in Q4...

On the other hand, western half of Jurong West now joins the northern areas for Q2.

rollout_map_p.jpg

Once tampines west is ok, some people in tampines east will be able to watch based on tampines west. Some in Bedok will be able to watch too as areas around are all ready. It is really too slow. Channel U is still in SD which is a bit disappointing.

Tampines is still not Indoor Reception Ready. Do made an effort and check out the status yourself here.

Whichever the case, an external antenna is require to receive DVB-T2 signal.

My friend stay in Geylang area. He also cannot get in door DVB-T2 signal. Think signal is not strong enough.

I am not surprised. I suffer that problem as well. Got to use active antenna or a amplifier.

Anyone knows if Bedok is ready as of now? Yes the map state 2016 Q1, so not sure if currently is ready or hv to wait until 2016 March.

I tested and is able to receive but signal strength and quality is 60~70% only.

what is batam channels? only got those below. but the last few weak signal at 50~60% and can't really view. Maybe need active antenna.

Yeah the ones below Okto are all Indonesian (batam) channels. Cool you can receive them. So those are unwatchable?

Don't mind if you can share the frequency MHz starting from 011 and below? thanks!

Thanks. Can further elaborate by unwatchable? Totally blank or there's freezing picture due to bad signal?

Totally blank. Sometimes got picture then blank. Signal strength and quality 50~60%. Sometimes "searching for signal".

For the local channels, signal strength and quality 60~70%. The numbers like not much different but the picture quality for local channel is solid and smooth like current normal channels connected to cable point. So not sure what's the significance of the signal strength and quality values actually.

Okay. My guess it's bad signal. will wait for you to provide the frequency for those channels. Thanks :)

Just want to share my experience on Playon!LIVE DVB-T2 Recorder. Well, a bad one.

I use the recorder together with its booster antenna. But I kept having errors and signals aren't stable. So I brought it down to their service center at Sim Lim Sq. The man claimed that unstable signal is "like that one" because indoor-ready isn't 100% ready.

I also keep having errors that the USB speed is too low to record. The man then said that it's because there's not enough power?! After some talks, he "upgraded" a better power adapter for free. But he said that if the problem persists, I need to buy a separate power adapter for its antenna (their brand's booster antenna) - Ya, it didn't come together. They kept trying to charge me when they advertised that the booster antenna is good. It seems like they are just selling products that aren't good enough. The email support was bad too. And they said that they will not develop or explore further on this STB anymore.

My recordings have been extremely cranky and pretty much useless. Lots of pauses and black screens. Sometimes it hangs and the whole 1hr recording is gone upon restarting the recorder.

Also, AC Ryan recordings are split into parts (10min/file) when you view on PC. Too many pauses and black screens once again.

I've been having it for several months now and I would say, buy at your own risk.

Anyway, I am looking for a better one out there. Anyone has any recommendations? Thanks!

PS: I forgot to mention that I was using AC Ryan's recommended WD HDD - which didn't work well.

Checked the first 4 only. All 690MHz so maybe all is the same so didn't check the rest as the procedure is quite troublesome.

Btw, 11 & 13 (TVRI-1 & TV One) actually is watchable after adjusting the position of the antenna by placing it higher. The rest is still blank or "no signal". FYI. Cable not long enuff so didn't test putting the antenna right beside the window.

The STB that I'm using looks similar to the picture in the post

http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/93743334-post35.html

It's from taobao and cost ~RMB100. Unknown brand. Antenna already posted in this thread in earlier post. ~SGD7 from eBay.

Tested recording short clip with usb drive no issue. But drive must be FAT32 only.

Thanks for sharing.

For branded STB beside AcRyan, there are Draco ($130+), New Media Solutions ($88), Topfield ($70), Uraku, etc.

For unbranded STB, just source for cheap PRC model like K2 (around $30+) which a number of HWZers (myself included) have.

I am looking around as well, coz I want one that can record. It does seem like many HWZers are using unbranded STB. Wouldn't it have signal issues?

Does the clip get split into parts? Or only viewable on STB? Looks like I should check out Taobao too! Haha

It appears like one file. But only tested short clip. Maybe later go and test.
