Didn’t know Taobao got Deepcool Gammaxx 400 CPU Cooler. Time to explore Taobao website
T-mall have Deepcool, https://deepcool.world.tmall.com/
But of course slightly more expensive.

So i just buy from those 3rd party sellers on Taobao. Those with like 30k+ reviews. https://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?sp...id=14756775238

Interested, but my budget not very high though. Could get a Deepcool Gammaxx 400 (double fan) from Taobao for $23~

Worked pretty well for me previously. So I'm contemplating to buy another one again.

If buy 2nd hand CPU Cooler, still need go buy Thermal paste again
I was looking at around $20 plus too, but since it's used, then you are better off getting something new with the same price

Perhaps i need some RGB lightings? LOL

Heat also abit too high for my liking. Will probably get a cheap Deepcool Gammaxx 400 cooler again for my Ryzen 2600X.

My AMD Phenom x4 955 seldom touches 60 degrees even under load. Idle is like 35-40 degrees. Ryzen idle is like 45-50 degrees with stock cooler, sometimes can jump to 67 degrees while just browsing web :\

Phenom II x4 955 just 4 cores le.
This one 6 cores and 12 threads.
All these features comes with a cost of transistors count.

Of course not aiming to be like my Phenom x4 955 temps la lol.

But during Idle, 45 degrees is way too high for my liking. Aiming for like 40~ degrees idle, and max of 72~ degrees under full load.
Haven't really tried full load yet, so idk what temps it will hit

Get a bigger cooler then. Guess stock cooler is able to cool the chip at operation limit but hardly your preference.

Disabled my autoboost crap in BIOS, now CPU highest is 59 degreesC on medium load of roughly 50% (previously spikes was like 71/72)

Hi all,

I have 3 questions to seek for advise.
Assuming I want to build a R7-2700x setup:

1. B450 chipset is sufficient if I use for non gaming, single gfx card setup?
2. What gfx is recommended for normal use, at most play simple gaming (like play Diable 3 or 4), single gfx card,
3. how much power is needed for PSU?
4. Stock HSF is sufficient, even for mild o/c?
5. Ram speed needs to be carefully chosen?
6. if run PCI-E based SSD, its going to affect gfx setup?

Sufficient. Don't think you actually need the better VRMs from X470 if you're not gonna OC much. The B450 will be enough for you.

2. What gfx is recommended for normal use, at most play simple gaming (like play Diable 3 or 4), single gfx card,
No point going for R7 2700X then use a GTX 1050... Yes you'll only need GTX 1050 to run Diablo 3 at 1080p max setting with 60+ FPS. You can probably even drop to Ryzen R5 2400G if you're just looking for Diablo 3. Not too sure about Diablo 4, cause not much info on something so preliminary. But can always just get a GTX 1070 Ti for "future proofing".

3. how much power is needed for PSU?
650W Gold is more than enough. You can always add the components in pcpartpicker, and it'll show u if the items are compatible and how much power you'll need.

4. Stock HSF is sufficient, even for mild o/c?
Are you playing in a Air-conditioned room? Are you aiming for like sub 65 degrees temps? Or do you not mind hitting 75-80 degrees temp? Max "safe" temps are like 85 degrees. If you don't mind those 75 degrees temps, then stock HSF is enough.

5. Ram speed needs to be carefully chosen?
??? Just try to get 3000MHz and above lor. Newegg selling Team T-Force Vulcan 16GB (8gb x 2) 3000MHz for less than $140SGD. https://www.newegg.com/global/sg-en/...82E16820313778 Just make sure your RAM is compatible with your mobo lol. Check ur Mobo specs on its website, or just add to pcpartpicker to see if it's compatible. (Can't add on pcpartpicker means not compatible)

6. if run PCI-E based SSD, its going to affect gfx setup?
??? Don't see why would there be an issue.
See red above

thank you.

if I get 2700x is purely for work, run VMs, crunching SQL queries, etc
very little need for gaming, so thought something like RX560 will be sufficient for gaming.

If we put it a gfx card that runs x16 on the PCI-E slot, would that mean sharing bandwidth with the PCI-E NVMe SSD?

RX 560 is sufficient for ur Diablo 3.

But if talking about Diablo 4, we wouldn't know if your RX 560 can get you your 1080p 60FPS at max settings.

(And I'm not too sure if GPU hugely affects video editing, that one need others to advise. I know it affects a little, but I'm not sure if getting a RX 560 vs RX 580 would have a significant difference)

Both GPU and M.2 are running on dedicated 16x and 4x speed respectively, so no cannibalizing of lanes.
As for your questions on RAM, make sure you refer to the QVL for that particular model of motherboard and crosscheck the RAM model. Even if the RAM models are the same, there is still a difference between a 2-kit RAM vs 4-kit RAM. (learning that the hard way, my RAM is extremely unstable with my current config.)
