You will pay a lot for the Asus tax. And why not go for 3600 RAM?

This thread can help you decide:

Head over to Newegg and pick your RGB RAM poison.

As for motherboard, checkout the following reviews, focus on x570 only.

That guy rubbish lah. Might as well say Intel kill their own Extreme series lineup just because the standard series has the same core count as Extreme.

Show me a Ryzen 3 chip that has the same core count and PCIe lanes as a 2990wx first. And a comparable Ryzen 3 board with eight memory slots.

Until that happens, Threadripper is going nowhere.

May be is just a wrong message.

Threadripper has to offer much higher core count and board features. Else there is no other benefits to compare or even allow consumers to consider TR4.

The only benefit like you have mentioned, 8 dimm slots and 64 pcie lanes. Else they basically killed off their 12c and 16c tr4 cpus. Leaving only 24c and 32c variant.

It actually makes a lot of TR4 users buying TR4 just for the board features. Not unless they buy TR4 for the most core count.

Btw x399 is also in for a refresh. Its outdated and certainly needs another new chipset to accompany the Ryzen 3000 features. Pcie gen 4.0, 12* USB 3.2 gen 1 and gen 2.

Yeah, people who actually use a HEDT system properly with multiple render cards / compute cards love the TR4 platform

You want another reason?

Threadripper can be used with ECC memory.

Most mainstream boards don't allow the use of ECC.

True, but you can still use ECC memory.
