I have 2 NAS running on exactly the same network.
1. 214+ has HGST nas hdd(4TB, 7200rpm) installed. (Left of photo)
2. 412+ has WD Red(3TB, 5400rpm) installed. (Right of photo)
Both are on the same network, same switch, same Synology SHR raid config and same nas config.

Seems that the 214+ with faster hdd is very much faster than the 412+ by alot.
Does hdd really have such large impact on the speed or is 2 bay nas generally faster?

Does anyone knows how to install bootstrap for DS414 for armadaxp cpu?
I've needed it to install bash, so I can run background processes with it being killed, if i terminate my ssh session

nohup <command> $

I've needed it to install bash, so I can run background processes with it being killed, if i terminate my ssh session

nohup <command> $

Let me give you a solution

Try this
perl -MPOSIX -e 'POSIX::setsid(); system("YOUR_COMMAND");' &
Try this following code and see if I'm right
perl -MPOSIX -e 'POSIX::setsid(); while (1) { system("date"); sleep(1); }' &
I will introduce a complete script for you. You store it as a file in your Synology NAS and use it to sort of daemonize any application you wish

#!/usr/bin/perl use POSIX qw(setsid); if (scalar(@ARGV) > 0) { setsid; exec @ARGV; }
Save the above script as a file (perhaps nohup), make it executable, and you can run even commands as such
./nohup perl -e 'while(true) { print "A\n"; sleep(1); }' &

I have this issue of unable to delete a folder called jos as shown in the SSH window below. There is one sub folder 2 levels down, all empty. Try deleting a few ways but failed:
1. deleting in window: failed
2. deleting in DSM shared folder: failed (Failed to delete the selected file/folder. Please make sure you have the appropriate privileges)
3. SSH to use rm -r: failed, with screenshot below:

Anyone has suggestion to delete the folder?

I am a greenhorn here; I just dumped my WD MyCloud (major problems after upgraded to FW 4.00) and got the Synology 213j. I cannibalised the WD 3TB red HDD from the WD MyCloud for use in the 213j. Got most things running now after spending the weekend rebuilding my NAS. Got a lot to learn here.

You seems to be having some I/O issues

Can you run the following commands at the directory you try to execute those commands ?

pwd mount df -h .
Show me the output.

I think you try restart your NAS and see if the problem still persist. I don't see any sign of issues
