Will recommend dx513 instead than to buy a new nas too

Easier to manage and cheaper as well.
Thanks.

I am currently on 4 x 3TB hdd on the DS916+.

If I decide on the DX513, will I need to get the same sized hdd as what's in my 916 or can I use higher capacity drives?

You can go for same, lower or higher doesnt matter.

You can also have 2, 100 or combine the volume as 1 big volume

It is flexible

Why you connect it, you should be able to see it via file station. No?

And for exfat you probably need.. to install exFat access?

.
Few shops are selling the 8TB HDD, and those selling are much higher than Tradepac $304.

I suggest you contact Kaira to find out next batch arrival.

Finally my DS918+ is up and running. Installation of 4x 4TB Toshiba HD is a breeze. No screw is needed and just took less than 20min to install them. Connect 2x RJ45 from my Asus gateway to DS918+ and configure it as link aggregation. Initialised the HDs to SHR format took less than 1 day. Done transferring all my existing data into the NAS.

Compare to DS216J, it is much faster. Hope it can fast long
