Total = $679 + $153x4 = $1291

...... Compare to DS216J, it is much faster. Hope it can fast long
Yes, new CPU & more memory sure improve performance. My DS418 takes about 4 hours to complete data scrubbing where as the old DS414 took almost 24 hours!

Synology has other useful features like VM, audio station, cloud sync.

hi am new to NAS.

I am looking for a 2 BAY 2TBx 2 harddisk

whats the best deal? I need for only store and view photo and video remotely

Synology has other useful features like VM, audio station, cloud sync.

To put things in perspective, all things digital will come with it's security risks. A while ago, Synology was hit by encryption based ransomware. There will always be zero-day exploits waiting to be activated. Question is by who and if you are unlucky enough to fall victim.

I do use a Synology myself.
Yes, Synology NAS is not full proof storage. I still have external HD to backup my NAS data. At least the data are at offline at home and not somewhere else.

I think i change mine around $70. Same model as yours.

My new ds218j with 2x 4TB HGST drives arrives today!

Hope i can get it up and running soon! So excited, my first nas.

Got them from lazada. $260 for the nas and $177 for the hdd (each). Prices are before the hsbc $10 code.
