Just my recommendation. Let it run 24x7. It's not power hungry anyway. It's better for your hardware, especially the hard disk to be running all the time at near constant temperature instead of the harsh cold boot daily.

But for my case, I have it running in this mode mainly for RADIUS authentication, router function as well as recently camera surveillance
True that. I have mine stored in a closet near where I sleep. The HDD keeps reading/writing. Figured I could have a power schedule to minimise the sounds of read/write.

Temps, as read by the NAS, reaches 57. Am I just being too worried?

I am using http://magicpacket.free.fr/ to wake my ds418 on desktop/laptop.

As for mobile app, use WOL (Wake On LAN).

57°C is kinda hot for HDD. My Toshiba 2TB HDDs around 40°C during read/write.

.
Yes, as follow:
Mon-Fri: 7pm On, 1am Off
Sat-Sun: 8am On, 1am Off

Using Synology Hardware schedule to perform auto On/Off
As for the On/Off schedule, I ran exactly the same schedule for 3 years with my previous ds414. Now running the same with my ds418.

Yeah my closet is enclosed and the area it sits doesn't have proper passive ventilation. And it's right next to the ups. Thanks for the input. Might let my NAS be on schedule since I don't need it at night.

Ds file and ds photo both can back up photos from my phone, which one is better?

If I have other users, how do I seperate the backup in their own different folders? Setup new user in ds photo or the default NAS?

I have a symbology nas ds216se running DSM 6.1.6-15266 update 1.

I have also installed cloud station drive to use as storage spaces and work purposes.

Currently I'm facing C drive low on space issue which doesn't make sense as to why is my cloud station files also sits on my local harddisk?

Can anyone shed some light on my issue?
