LAN is 1 option. Static ip on both ends (easiest method i feel)

Don't understand. If i get you correctly..

Windows Explorer > type on the address bar \\nas-ip address (i.e \\192.168.111 if your nas ip is 111.)

You set up a shared drive space on the NAS and you can access it as a network drive from any PC with Windows explorer.
I see. haha guess I'm under-utilizing this :/
I need the functions of a extHDD but with redundancy and all

Can you provide a link so I can go through?

Sorry. I know how to do it so i did not reference from any link.

You may google it however.

The easiest would be

configure your pc lan to 192.168.1.100
Configure your nas lan to 192.168.1.101
Plug them directly to each other

That way, you can access your nas via \\192.168.1.101

If you Pc only have 1 network port, you won't have internet access btw.

Hi there,
there are 4 LAN ports.
Do we need to configure static IPs for one of the lan ports.

Do advise.

I've got my HDD to hibernate after 20 mins of inactivity. But noticed that they wake up at 30 min mark. Anyone knows any service/package that keeps waking them up?

I don't have any scheduled task running in that time frequency and they are only at a certain time of the day (SMART test or turn off services and shut down schedule etc).

Log Center simply puts "Internal disks woke up from hibernation." Not exactly helpful. Is there an alternative log that I'm missing?
