My 1813+ cannot power on..

Out of Warranty already, anyone knows where to repair?
Checked with Synology and they told me $54 USD to send to Taiwan to check..
can't give me an exact quote how much to repair cause need to check first

Was hoping it's power supply..or I read here some had some power board issues.. (not sure what's the diff). Is there a place to repair locally?

You should refresh your NAS hardware by buying new and selling away the still working one.

A failing drive can prevent the NAS from power up too.

Thanks. You mean repair, sell, then buy new NAS? Not sure how much it will fetch though.

Sell before it reach need repair stage. As for the resale value, learn as you go. At Garages Sales, Storage section at Blue Forums.

Is it advisable to switch off your NAS every now and then, especially during vacation?

As the NAS admin, should avoid tinkering with it near shutdown time. If necessary, temporarily disable the schedule On/Off routine.

As with my previous DS414, data scrubbing routine took over 20 hours to complete. Hence need to disable the power schedule till process complete.

As with my current DS418, the same data scrubbing takes less than 6 hours, no need disable power schedule with weekend scrubbing.
