[NAS] Synology NAS owner club!

I am torn between getting the DS218 and DS218+.
I am looking to just store media and my photo archive.
Please share your views and hopefully help me make up my mind🙏🙏🙏

I got the + version. I think worth it because it can run Docker (very useful) and do video transcoding, if you need it one day.

I think there should be some apps or settings that allows you to choose folders on your phone to be copied / pushed to your NAS, correct?

Yes there is. The DS file app can do it but it's done via WIFI and it takes a long time..

Donno why ppl want to connect NAS by wifi instead of Lan cable

I would not do that if I was you,.. HDD's are not good at being spun up and down so often. In fact I leave mine running 24/7 and don't allow the HDD's to spin down in an attempt to maximize the HDD's lifetime.

Since I dont access my files on my DS716+ in the nights, I have it on schedule off every night and on every morning. So far, both my HDD are running fine.

It has been about 2 years.

However, I have been lucky that my HDD have been surviving well so far.
