Hi Bros,

I have just bought a DS413. Please advise which is the most efficient way to backup my photos while i'm in overseas?

Tham
The most efficient and realistic way to backup when you are overseas is an external harddisk, not your NAS.

Super pissed with myself for "upgrading" this to this useless piece of junk synology 213j. Previously on Dlink DNS320L which was working perfectly but decided to get a synology after all the hype

Problems:
1) the nas NEVER fails to hang during large file transfers. I use acronis backup & recovery 11.5 to image my drive on the nas but after 1hr the nas WILL hang. always.
2) Using copy and paste the nas also will hang midway after 1 hour of copying
3) when the nas is working fine maybe say 5 mins after boot up, it will hang at the rebooting stage when i reboot through dsm4.2 interface.
Also always never fails to hang during reboot. Blue power led can blink for 1 hr but nothing happen. Replicated issue 10x also same
4)Surveillance station keeps disconnecting from camera feed. I can have another browser open to the camera feed and it will be 100% but this synology junk will d/c after ~20mins always
5) Write speed avg 30mb/s write on WD red, but my dlink DNS320L using hitachi hd avgs 60mb/s write
go get it RMA. No point making a big fuss over it when everyone is happy with theirs(that is the reason why you get yours) and you ain't

Can someone share the benefits of SHR over Raid 5?

I thought expansion can always be carried out over both protocols.

You know, this is OOT, but I could never fully stream a video from my NAS at home with the 3G here in Singapore. Sure cut off halfway. I go Taiwan, and I could stream a video smoothly with the unlimited 3G over there from my NAS. And I am in another country. Seriously wtf.

during IT Exhibits only.

1. IT Show 2014
2. PC Show 2014
3. Comex 2013
4. Sitex 2013
*Either of it should be good.

if you gonna buy now at SLS/FUNAN MemoryWorld or StorageStudio.. you will definitely be a carrot.

don't do it, just endure. But if they are able to match the prices given at IT Exhibits, don't hesitate. - You can call them to check on it.

compare the prices at Ace Peripherals Asustor Synology NAS, Seagate HardDisk WD 2.5 3.5 2TB 3TB 4TB HDD PC SHOW 2013 Price List Brochure Flyer Image
