The promo should be for both 8th and 9th series as those who get a Z390 will pony up the cash for 9th series.

Why would that be? I5 8400 still good. I7 8700k offer 6c12t. The new i7 only 8c.

9th actually. Coz 9900K have 8c16t. Just that it's backward compatible with 8th series.

Look at the high end section. Those VRMs are insanely overkill and obviously meant to drive 8c16t to the max. Lol

It's another topic when compare 8700k vs 9700k but if i buy Z390, i will buy 9th gen chip.

And, about 8700k vs 9700k. It's debateable to say which one is better in term of performance.

IMO, if im alr using 8700k , i won't be upgrading to 9700k

If I buy new one, I choose 9700k over 8700k any days. Why?

Performance diff is not noticeable. But what actual benefits for 9700k over 8700k ?

- Soldered IHS.
- Fix for Spectre & Meltdown

Likewise, if i want to sli on a locked cpu with native usb3gen2 ports and integrated wifi, the 8400 would be more economical.

But yeah, the ideal setup would be gen 9 cpu with z390
