Ryzen 5000 supports fast RAM so I think should be minimum DDR4-3600. Wouldn't be surprised to see someone here with DDR4-5000
If im not wrong the sweet spot for R5000 should be ard 3800-4200.

Btw theres crucial ballistix max 5100mhz cl19 for $1300 on amazon

With the announcement of amd gpus, I think while waiting for the actual reviews, I am consider building a pc which use amd gpu and processor for the first time this time round.

For the past 17 years all my diy pc are using intel processors and nvidia graphics card.

Thinking of getting either 5900x with 6800xt or 5800x with 6800xt. Anyone with similar thoughts?

5800x is not as value for money. But due to having all cores on a single ccx, it will have much better latency than the other 5000 series.

6800xt is a good bet. Performance near 3080 but with more vram (16GB) for future proof. Nowadays even PS5 and xbox has 12GB ram for graphics.

3800 vs 3600 can see big fps diff based on benchmark
the higher the better for zen3
keep it lower than cl18 tho

my guess will be ard 4000-4200mhz for sweet spot, but for now no leaks or rumours that it will be true. best is to stay 3600 cl16 til end of the year, even though rams price are dropping now. Even if amd annouce tht 4000-4200 will be a thing, the price will be so ex, many will stay away

But i guess the market will still crash right aft they would say 4k is the sweet spot as many of them will throw their kits out, jus like the rtx3000 series scenario will be, lack of supply and overflooded demands

Currently im with 3600 cl14, til i can even get a 4400 cl15/16 kit from gskill, i would probly be using this til am5 is out and ddr5 is a thing
