Noticed nobody really talks about Zen+ architecture (2000 series)...is it because its too old in the market?
The 2000 series is only slightly cheaper than the 3000 series so no point.

so will the 3x series drop price when 5k release? is 3600 still the best bang for buck?
The 3000 series will not drop by much. Unlike the move from 2000 to 3000, the 5000 series carries a bigger premium so the 3000 remains attractive.

And such mentality is why AMD is charging so high for their Zen 3 8 Cores. So here comes the question, The 5800X is 29% more expensive than 10700KF which has the same core count. Does the 5800X offer you 29% more fps? Or using that $100 USD to top up to better GPU would make more sense?

If there is any consideration, the 5800X will not edge out more than 5% than 10700KF in fact, especially for games. Is there a need to spend 28% premium on smth that for that edge (some games will still run faster on Intel, there wont be doubt)

Also Intel LGA1200 can last for another gen, meaning u can top up to 11700K after you are done with 10700KF. While Zen 3 is at the last cycle of AM4 socket.

If you have to spend for the best CPU, just get 5800X and it will fool-proof you for next 5 years to come. The CCX latency involved is negligible (just like 10700K vs 5800X) but u have 50% more cores.
I know many people are not please with price hikes given AMD's value image.

But AMD is a profit driven company. If product is too expensive, the demand will drop. AMD will then drop the price of 5000 series. From their marketing POV, it is easier to drop price (for better PR and demand), than increase price.

Take note AMD now has the absolute best CPU all rounder in the industry. Best products always command a premium. Ask Intel for that. Or Lambor or Apple.

Furthermore, Intel is not going to be competitive for the next few years. The ball is in AMD court.

The good so far for us is that when AMD is king, we get 10 to 20% improvement per generation. When intel is king, we get 5% improvement per generation.

Because it is you who created this thread named "AMD Zen 3 Ryzen 5000". Most discussion or in fact all discussion should be related to 5000 series. You might want to dig out the old thread of 2000 series or start a new 2000 series thread.

Most people are comparing the 3000 series and 5000 series. The most bang for buck should be 3000 series (Overseas) "soon". 5000 series upgrade is for those who have old system like DDR3 or early DDR4 system. If I have a 3000 series CPU, I won't considered getting 5000 series. Waste of Moolah.

1 gen upgrades are almost never worth it. but when u are looking at it with a 1600/2600, it becomes much more appealing. 30-40% ipc improvement, clock speed improvements, same tdp.

We have to wait for Intel's counter strike with Tiger Lake desktop processors to threaten AMD to reduce price of their new 5000 series processors.

Now why i seriously worry what happen when AMD achieved that, the price will be over the roof like how the Intel 6950X was. Rmb there is $2000 cpu from intel?

Problem is before AMD gain back 50% market share and they are hiking so much.

I believe $50 price hike is reasonable, but the 5800X should have been worth $379 ($329+50), not $449.

8 cores as expensive as Intel 10-Cores, that is downright stupid.

Also review haven confirm Zen 3 is indeed faster than Intel in most games, all first hand review from manufacture are best case senario (rmb NV claim about 3080 twice as fast as 2080?)

If the 8 Core tiger lake CPU with 10% IPC improvement comes at US$350-400, it will be a good purchase as compared to Zen 3.

Well, ballís in intelís court again so itís up to them how they want to play next.

It wasnít for AMD to survive as the much smaller brother for so long while getting trampled all over. I believe in AMDís management more than Intelís based on status quo.
