which thermal paste would you choose if use for 3900?
would you go for Grizzly Carbonaut or just normal paste in a tube?
carbonaut is a thermal pad which performs like a low end thermal paste. avoid thermal pads unless you are someone who frequently needs to swap coolers or cpu. use something like mx-4 or kryonaut instead.

Normal paste will be the better solution. Thermal pads like the Carbonaut generally don't transfer heat as well as a good thermal compound. The upside of thermal pad is generally reusability and easy to remove, i.e. easier to pull the cooler away from the processor.

Anyone try before this brand Thermagic ZF-12, ZF-EVO and ZF-EX. The Thermal Conductivity look good at 12W/mk ~ 14.6W/mk. The price is much cheaper than Grizzly.

Not full tube.

The retail version of the same size is 3.5g, the included tube is probably half of it. Should be enough for 2~3 application, depend on how you apply.

BTW, ASUS TUF GAMING X570-Plus is $228 from Amazon US.

anyone tried to RMA a CPU with broken pins before?

Basically, I was using the prism cpu cooler for about 2-3months then i decided to upgrade to the Noctua DH15 cooler. And when removing the cooler, the cpu came off with it as the thermal so called cemented the cooler and cpu together. I use a mixture of hair dryer and dental floss with alcohol to pry off cooler and cpu. Using magnifying glass, i found 2 broken pins on the cpu

I thought so too... i need to invest in a new mobo as well... just realised that the cpu socket on the mobo is very filmsy as well

PS: Learnt my mistake, always use the warm up and twist method to remove cooler in the future.

wah shag
have u tried to see if it still posts? maybe super lucky those that broke off are just reserve pins...
if cannot then maybe can try sell on carouhell for super cheap, at least can offset the cost of a new one. had to do the same when I broke a pin off a 2600 a few months back, was snapped up really quick for $120 (usually they sell for about $170).
