Yes, fx6100 more laggy compared to r5 1600. For WinRAR, much more faster for r5.

In that case the speed increased is very significant.

Maybe it's time for me to consider slowly moving to Ryzen platform.

You should swap out all mechanical HDD first, as these are the main cause of lag.

All my rigs are using SSD as os drive at least. I think it's time to move on from phenom II

You should.

I moved up from a i7 2600 + r9 290.

Games load faster, but windows apps load slightly faster, not really noticeable. Games are more noticeable.

Rendering 3d stuff in sketchup and acad is faster, but i didnt measure times for those. Maybe faster by 2-3mins. PC would jam up rendering sometimes on the i7 but the Ryzen just handles it easily.

But the biggest improvement is power and temperature. 50% drop in idle power draw (140watts to 70watts), 40% drop during gaming(290-300watts to 150-160 watts).

Temps dropped from 75-80 for gpu and 60ish for cpu to 55-60 for gpu and 42 for cpu.

And with all the new power providers available, savings are up and overall pc is just more powerful.

Gonna grab a Ryzen 3700X when its out for sure.
