I'm thinking of upgrading from my 1070 lately, nowadays can't even play games on medium with 1440p, but 6800 xt and 3080 price seems nearly the same, not v sure which to buy..

What's the stock situation atm? Saw that PCtheme etc have their price lists up, but not sure if the rest of the stores in SLS have any stock
Pricelist is useless. They will quote you higher or simply no stock. I'll buy any local 3000 6000 series gpu if you can beat the Amazon MSRP(not scalper's price)

I've been to a couple of shops in SLS,, saw price of RX 6800 XT to be quite reasonable, but when I asked, I was told that price listed is for bundle only.....standalone price is different, waaay more than listed.

Very hard to find close to MSRP, I'm NOT saying it's impossible to find, just very, very, very difficult nah niah.

Edit - This was before I'd gotten the RX 6900 XT, I'm pretty sure prices have since gone up by a fair bit by now.....

RX 6800 under 1k
RX 6800 XT under 1.25k

Above that we are paying for marked up prices or high AIB edition or crazy gpu price.

If we stick to the MSRP for the reference cards, which AMD said they will stick to MSRP, then the RX 6800 should ideally be below 900 bucks, and the XT version should be around 1100 bucks. AIB cards will cost a lot more.

Not surprising because I feel it is not worth the price premium over the RX 6800 XT. Most of them are priced close to the 1.9 to 2K range.

Personally, I feel RDNA2 cards are less accepted because people have been sticking to Nvidia for a long time and may not be willing to switch. Also, Nvidia cards are better in terms of features, so better value all round. If you are just focused on gaming, and less on features, then AMD is a very strong alternative.

True that. So the question is, if you die die must get a graphic card and the current gen ones, then you just have to consider how much savings will you get by going for the RX 6800 XT (with no strings attached) or should you just go for the RX 6900 XT. I feel some will take the latter, while others will just wait and see if they can snag a RTX 3080 on Amazon or Newegg at a reasonable price.

First time I've gotten a card that actually rose in value, even though I'd considered the price I'd paid for it to be pretty nutz already.

The first time GPU prices went up instead of the downward trend was few years back during the first mining craze. Most cards got snapped up, so even getting a used one was very costly. This time round, the reason why prices went up was because of poor supply. Mining just made it worst because it increased demand. Good thing we secured our cards earlier.
