i7-4970k :p

Your Intel CPU is still very relevant in gaming today. I think changing it to R5 1600 would be a downgrade for gaming if you do not use any productivity softwares.

If you do not overclock or use SLI, X370 is pointless. Go for Asus B350-Plus, really great Mobo.

For memory, Motherboard manufacturers will always provide Memory QvL lists where by you can identify compatible memory easily. Example, Asus B350-Plus Memory QvL PDF

Most RAMs should reach rated speeds with the latest BIOS updates so do not worry. Fairly Plug and Play.
My current system showing its age abit and thought of changing up to include new ddr4 rams.

im looking at 1600 with Asus B350 Plus.
What ram is suitable for this mobo?
I'm looking at 8GB x2 and running at 3200MHz.

I searched for the QVL but there dont seem to be many of the QVL 3200 on sale in singapore?

Must i get a 3200MHz to run at 3200? or can buy a 3000 to OC to 3200?

no difference, if its not b-die, its all about luck to get 3200 and above.

Gskill Flare x for local.
But imo not worth the money haha..
Better off with corsair hynix 3000 kit for the price. Have to look at actual ram kit for the version number to differentiate between various ram manufacturer.

Are you running the latest chipset drivers? If still on the old version, the 1600x will report a +20C offset..

Ryzen hasn't been out for long enough for us to know anything about long-term chip degradation, but I would say 1.375V (Vcore) or below for 24/7 intensive use. AMD's recommendation is not to exceed 1.45V. Do account for LLC as well especially if you use an aggressive setting.

Based on what I notice, SiliconLottery is selling pretested 3.9GHz (Up to 1.328V) 1600X at MSRP. Meaning most, if not all 1600X will meet 3.9... on the other hand previously they tested 1600 where the "failed bins" went for about 3.7GHz for MSRP.
Tl;dr: Siliconlottery pretesting stats are a good start, since most 1600x chip quality are better than 1600. You can replicate their results with their methodology on your setup see if its in the 3.9 or 4GHz bin before further fine tuning.

If your cooling is sufficient, 3.9ghz should be the minimum possible for 1600x at reasonable voltage.

play around between 1.25 to 1.4, until you get temps and clocks that you are satisfied with.
for long term use, try not to go over 1.45.
