If ur lookin at r7 i'd strongly suggest x370. B350 vrm is kinda limited to take d beating from 8c16t chips. Else msi tomahawk is decent for 3200 depends on ram.

For hsf depends on what cpu you getting? 1600 and 1700 comes with the stock heatsink. Those chips are rated lower tdp. And its indeed much cooler than thier x counterparts. The heatsink is actually much decent than any of the blue teams out there. You should be able to overclock it moderately. But if you intend to pump in more than 1.4v, then why not invest on a proper AIO watercooler or a decent Cryorig H7?

If you really want x370 and bang for bucks. I think you can try x370 from asrock.* Not that nice looking but just decent.

Bios update, after holding so many boards brands, i personally see the same thing. Usually when there is a new bios update, they usually come out within a week between each branding. Especially ang new Agesa bios updates etc.

build for membership to the Ryzen club :)

Is this OK?

Is the PSU overkill? Can anyone recommend a PSU with an all black cable?

MSI X370 Gaming Pro+ Ryzen 1600
Phanteks P400 TGE red
Corsair RMx850 Gold Mod
Corsair Vengeance RGB 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3200
MSI GTX1060 Gaming X (3Gb)
Samsung 850 EVO 250GB 2.5" SATA3 SSD

would like some future proofing hence the x370 plus it has more SATA ports/fan headers/etc. The GPU might come at a later date when the price stabilizes a bit.

Appreciate any help. Thanks!

Used this board before. Excellent one tbh. Suggest this over the MSI Gaming Pro.

Hitting 4ghz or not, really is silicon lottery. Some can hit 4ghz but the vcore needed is insane. So overclock carefully. If you really want 4ghz, 1600X have higher chance to do it plus since you're buying aio anyway, just get the 1600X instead.

Motherboard suggest getting Asus Prime B350-PLUS. Or X370-PRO. Depending which motherboard series you wanna get.

RAM wise, most of the RAM these days should be fine already as long as you update your motherboard to the latest BIOS. Corsair Vengeance series or G.Skill Ripjaw V or Trident Z series all work well up to 2933MHz no issue. For 3200MHz, suggest getting G.Skill Trident Z series or their Flare X (if you willing to pay the crazily expensive price)
