Best way is to put down the money and buy Ryzen cos that is definitely going to wake up Intel and its +5% ideas.

Personally rather take the 1600 over the X version too. :)

singupingu 12-04-2017 12:28 AM

Mac, are the difference between the R5 1600 non-X and the X version significant if you're gonna oc it anyway? If the scenario is the same as 1700 (non-x) vs 1700X, then the 1600 would be a definite buy for me.

1600 is fapz :s12::s12:

MacClipper 12-04-2017 12:40 AM

The X versions may be better binned but I prefer the definitely lower P0 VIDs of the non-X cos it makes for more versatile overclocking via the P-state options.

If you are the more gungho types OK with using 1.35V (default X VID) or more to o'c, then take the X.

If you prefer sweet spot o'cing ie. with lower voltages and power savings, take the non-X.

Read up more about P-state o'cing.

btw yusoffb01, think you may like this bench results too.

Pay just $300+ for CPU and be 98% faster vs the world. =:p

this benchmark got include old cpu, good reference for those looking to upgrade from older chip like 2500k/2600k

MacClipper 12-04-2017 03:20 AM

And this is the mobo I ran the R5 1600 overclocking efforts on, it was a amazingly smooth experience. :)

if you have confidence ryzen mobo will work flawlessly and you wont brick it while updating the bios why not.

This going to cut a big share away from Intel.
Intel monopolies should be ending

Wow....after seeing all the YouTube reviews, Ryzen 1600 seems like the best bang for buck

Most user here don't SLI or cross fire, AB350 board + R1600 is the best combo

I have $250, What Should I Get the Core i5 7600/7600K or the Ryzen 5 1600X?

Platform wise, the Intel side can offer more features on Z270 over AM4, however AMD would point to the lower platform cost of B350 that could be invested elsewhere in a system.

On performance, for anyone wanting to do intense CPU work, the Ryzen gets a nod here. Twelve threads are hard to miss at this price point. For more punchy work, you need a high frequency i5 to take advantage of the IPC differences that Intel has.

For gaming, our DX12 titles show a plus for AMD in any CPU limited scenario, such as Civilization or Rise of the Tomb Raider in certain scenes. For e-Sports, and most games based on DX9 or DX11, the Intel CPU is still a win here.
