memtest hardfreeze, unsure of cause.

During memtest keep hard freeze nothing moving on screen, cannot press ctrl alt del.

What could be the cause? mobo, cpu? the feeeze is completely random stage of the test.. the frozen screen doesn't show any error so i totally blur

I have encountered a few time the defect of the slots is so bad, it damaged the memory sticks too. So i have to rma both. Damaged memory module can also worsen over time. Context wise, This was from my trial and error experience supporting a lab of about 20 machines for about 6 months.

ok just an update..

after i resit my memory

Suddenly my com cannot boot with xmp profile 3000MHz, it will have 3 beeps and it resets the memory settings profile to automatic and speed to 2133MHz.

So i tried setting
1. xmp profile and speed to 3000MHz again, failed post 3 beep.
2. xmp profile and speed to 2133MHz or higher, failed post 3 beep.

So my findings are
Regardless of the speed, It seems my pc suddenly doesn't boot if i set the ram profile to xmp profile.

It only boots with
3. Automatic profile and Memory speed to 2133MHz

Good news is that its not my CPU problem..

Bad news is
Faulty ram? motherboard sudden incompatibility? or vrms can't handle?

From i read, you havent tried booting successfully with higher than 2133mhz.
2. This is (2133mhz or higher)?

The only combination i can boot is
- memory profile set to auto
- speed to 2133 or auto (which set to 2133 anyway).

Anything that is xmp profile or above 2133 it doesn't want to boot anymore.

And by setting it to auto.
Suddenly, the hard freeze that i encountered when launching Monster Hunter World is gone. Really funny.. because in the first place it didn't cause me any problems and i never thought setting memory profile to auto or xmp makes any differences if it was the same speed.
