There is a way by changing your case to a normal matx type that accepts ATX psu. From there you can get superflower eco silver 500w at $89, a massive $120 savings. or u can consider Inwin A1 case that comes with 600w bronze psu. This seller is selling at $209 which is quite good compared to others. https://www.lazada.sg/softtech-distr...u&pageTypeId=2. Just check if they have stocks.

Ryzen cpu can also get from primenow app (by amazon) or newegg global sg.

For rams, get from newegg.com/global/sg. For RMA, just write in to Gskill USA and they will direct u on how to send back to USA. Only costs <S$10.00 but need check if they will cover the costs of sending back.

2tb sagate barracuda hdd can be gotten at $89 from lazada.

Sadly, u missed lazada birthday sales. I help my friend build a rig at $1700 budget which includes PC components, monitor and speaker. So, $1500 is doable but now is not really the right time due to no discount. So you have to compromise somewhere. Like lower ssd capacity, etc. Do a search on lazada to find better prices.

System build update (Knight Rider)

Silverstone RVZ03-B sgd$168.00
Cpu + mb combo sgd $489.00
Ryzen R5 2600
Msi B450i gaming plus ac motherboard
BeQuiet shadow rock lp 130tdp sgd $45.00
Crucial Ballistix Elite 3200mhz cl15 16gb sgd $178.00
PowerColor RX Vega 56 8gb Red Devil sgd $440.00
Adata XPG SX8200 nvme 256gb sgd $85.00
Seagate Barracuda 2tb 2.5 inch hdd sgd $108.00
Corsair SF600 SFX 600w 80+platinum full modular sgd $209.00
Got the price down to sgd $1722.00
There's no way I can get it down to sgd$1500.00
For a $1.5k rig, lower down a few expectations. Rather than just going itx build, go for a normal build size. This gives you more budget to spend on other stuffs. Don't just go for itx build as it is very expensive if you have a fixed budget to work with.

Looks and style have to be put aside and focus on performance per dollar instead.

Msi b450m bazooka + r5 2600 ~ $424
Corsair 3200mhz Vengeance LPX 2*8gb kit ~ $165
SanDisk Ultra 500gb ~ $109
Toshiba 2tb ~ $79
Galax RTX2060 6gb black 1 click ~ $499
Seasonic Focus Plus 650w 80+ Gold ~ $145
Phanteks p300 ~ $95

Total ~ $1516 listed price. I'm sure cash price can hit your budget.

You ain't loosing much, instead of nvme ssd you trade for more capacity but regular SATA ssd. A powerful GPU, more than sufficient and great PSU. You don't need a cooler, not unless you wanna do overclocking on the 2600. If you wanna do so, throw in a cheap Silverstone TD02 240mm liquid cooler at $79.

The pricing should not exceed $1550 in total. If you still wanna keep it at $1500. Reduce the PSU to Superflower leader silver.

If that's the case maybe consider a laptop instead. Ideally, PCs should be stationary.

Curious though, does both sides have a spare monitor/tv for him to connect the PC to? Im presuming ur budget does nt include a monitor.

But like what Synchronicity said, a laptop may be a better option although for $1.5k budget, u wun get further than a gtx 1060 or even 1050ti in laptop.

Nope only one monitor a viewsonic one, he's going to have to bring it along too. Yeah I know laptop are portable but at his price range as you said 1050ti,1060 it won't be a good experience for him playing Forza for him either

Then, you gotta decide if budget or convenience would take priority.

IMO, since you are the one choosing for him, you are inadvertently adding some limitations or restrictions upon your cousin. Such as not meeting the budget, lowering components specifications in order to meet other components specifications but still within budget, etc. All these will be borne and carried on by your cousin, not you. It seems you are making the build revolve around ITX case rather than your budget.

Just a consideration and my point of view. Good luck in your selection.

Besides, an overall build like what you had indicated will weigh around 8-10kg, monitor about 2-3 kg. U can ask your cousin if he/she truly wants to lug a 10-13kg deadweight to and fro every month. Can argue that can take grab to and fro, but worth the trouble?

You gotta pick your poison and compromise. IMO, I would rather scale down the graphics and have a more portable machine to game on then lugging around a monitor and machine.

After all, it's no ps4/Xbox where you can have 2 or more players playing. Laptop/desktop games are usually 1 machine per player.

Sure if you don't mind paying more, I'm sure you can get a better gpu but like I said, you gotta compromise something if you wanna keep to the budget.

This is gonna be tiring, every month need to unplug, replug the whole pc, carry over. Even if he drives, he'll need to bring it into the house, assuming its HDB, carry the whole pc + monitor + keyboard+ mouse, maybe speaker? maybe headphones?

Rabak bro, i think at least 2 trips to bring everything into the house every month. I think eventually your cousin will just leave it at one place.

Thanks but any ideas how to ask without spoiling the surprise?

Well what to do when your parents are separated and mommy won't help with his birthday surprise, even me as a cousin donated $200.00 from my piggy bank.
Daddy - $500
Grandparents (dad side) - $250
Grandparents (mom side) - $200
Uncle Bart - $150
Me - $200
Friends - $210
He's a good kid but what can I say, we try

Is the Ryzen r7 1700 alot worse compared to the r5 2600?
I found a shop selling the 1700 sgd$10 cheaper to the 2600,
Will it affect his CCA (film class work?) if I use the older gen?

Too much details, bro. Lol.

Anyway, u can try asking him what he brings to school everyday and how he feels if the weight is 3x, 4x and do monthly? U can fake it as a survey from your coy or sch work.
