You need to describe what it is for before we can help you with anything. AMD have already caught up to Intel on current gen neck in neck so you need not worry about future-proofing...

The most resource intensive task I can think of is to play AAA rated games occasionally. Nothing like video editing or CGI rendering stuff.

Or to define the problem simply, what is the most value-for-money mid range rig I can get for $1500, with an intel based processor

curious question

what is the rationale of getting Intel over AMD?

If you talking about longevity, there was a comparison done for i5-7600k vs Ryzen 5 1600 and the AMD chip held out better than the respective Intel chip

Maybe he enjoys spending extra money on a new motherboard for every CPU generation. Or he enjoys the extra heat from an Intel CPU or the extra expense from being forced to buy a good aftermarket CPU cooler. Or he enjoys reducing his CPU performance with every new security issue found on Intel CPUs.

Not a tech savvy guy and out of touch with the latest tech developments. So just going with familiar ground. Simple as that.

4GB RAM 16 chrome tabs actually doable leh, just depending on web content.

Can't find reliable seller selling EVGA GD 650 wor. Is EMKL Enterprise on Lazada trustable?
Can get seasonic focus gold 650w for about 130 to 140+

More head room for future upgrade i think

You don't need to be a tech savvy to use AMD. It's just like you change Android smartphone from Samsung to LG. Both are still runnig Android. Different but still same same. LOL.

Anyway, can just take the below build:

CPU+MB: Intel Core i5-9400F + MSI B360M Mortar Titanium @ $405 (PC Themes)
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-2933 CL16 16GB Dual Channel Kit [Black] @ $117 (Fuwell)
GPU+PSU: Galax RTX 2070 Mini 1-Click OC 8GB GDDR6 [White] + Seasonic FOCUS Gold 750W [80 Plus Gold] @ $699 (Corbell)
SSD: ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 512GB [NVMe M.2 2280] @ $122
HDD: Toshiba P300 2TB [7200 rpm] @ $77
CASE: Cooler Master MasterBox MB520 RGB @ $93
OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Product Key @ $3 (Taobao)

GRAND TOTAL: $1516

Recommended:
CPU+MB: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 + ASRock B450M Pro4 @ $426
Higher performance upfront + can overclock to boost performance on the longer run.

FOCUS PLUS offers 3 more years of warranty (10 years) and 750W is just $10+ more. Thats why i feels 650W is neither here not there...
