RX 580 to GTX 1070?

I got the rx 580 for gaming but recently got into deep learning so might want to change to nvidia. I will have to spend $50-$70 on the upgrade (used). Do you guys think it’s worth? and also gaming wise.

Nvidia GPU is required for deep learning because of this thing called CUDA. AMD isn’t supported for the most part. I can always use the computer available at school but might be better if i could do it at home.

580 8gb to a 1070 is quite a big leap. Minus the deep learning part, on gaming performance it's pretty good and I think your budget about right. However, always remember, that the risk of getting anything on used market is wholly your own responsibility to research whether the used card condition and warranty is acceptable or not.

GTX 1070 is good for gaming. And there are GTX 1080 which is the best graphics card but it is more expensive. So you have to decide based on your budget and necessity.

Many mining 1070 are on the market, which is why is cheap.
When buying mining 1070, it is important to note the amount of dirt and weaken fan durability.

Miners don't oc when they mine, which many ignorance claim, some tend to even underclock it to improve the power/performance efficiency.

However, since they turn it on 24/7, the fan durability will take the hit and dirt will build up. Some brands don't allow you take it apart to clean it so you will have to live with the dirt.

What I recommend when buying a mining card is to check the dirt and for any environmental damages, like rust. Not all miners run their's in clean environment.
