CPU+MB: Intel Core i5-2320 + ASRock H61M/U3S3 @ $338
RAM: G.Skill NT DDR3-1333 CL9 4GB [Black PCB] X2 @ $52
GPU: ASUS GTX 560 Ti 1GB DirectCU II TOP @ $339
HDD: Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.C 500GB [SATA III] @ $108
ODD: Sony Optiarc 24X CD/DVD Writer [Retail] @ $29
PSU: FSP Aurum 500W [80 Plus Gold] @ $115
CASE: Xigmatek Asgard XP @ $59

Total: $1040

Buy all and build at PC Themes.

No need SSD if you are fine with common HDD speeds.
Drop to 500GB HDD if capacity is not urgently needed.
Drop motherboard to the above if feature requirements are basic.

Meaning features on motherboard that are not too extravagant like OC capability, crossfire/SLI support, USB 3.0 header, eSATA, etc...

The graphics card is able to support High settings on BF3 smoothly.

I tried uninstalling and using driver sweeper but it is still having the problem. I've been trying to seek help from repairman etc and figure out the problem as it only happen when I play the game even changing every part of my hardware( from ram to mobo to gfx and even a ssd) did not work. Guess I have to deal with it for now.
Try doing reformat and reinstallation of Windows? If not you should take your graphics card down to RMA centre to let them test for you.

Oo good idea :s13:.

But don't know the PSU can fit in the casing anot, cause the PSU is mount on top of the case..

My take is most PSU's are rather standard in size. so it should be able to fit, most older cases esp those from mass manufacturers used to be top mounted PSU style.

Hi,

I want to build a PC mainly for programming, email, skype. I need a fast system as I will be doing a lot of compilation and do not wish to wait. my budget is $2K for PC alone as I have settled on a Dell U2711 or U3011 ( 2560x1600) monitor.

Any recommendation?

New Rig Recommendation

Hi Guys,

After reading the threads, i see many ppl advising to hold on to april/may for new technology. I have a few qns in mind.. My budget to build would be $700-800. Not really for gaming but can support to play BF3/COD should i decide to install the game.

1) For $700-800, i see configs like i3/i5..4gb ram.. gtx 560, asgard xp case and so forth.. if i wait till april or may, will i be able to get a newer technology at a cheaper price? or the price will drop due to newer technology comin in?

2) Im seein this antec cooler/liquid cooler for cpu.. Are these really compulsory. Say i use my pc maximum 6-7 hrs per day?

3) Is there any difference in getting a ati vga card, sapphire 6870 and gtx 560? Since both are running on 1gb ddr5.

1)Old tech gets cheaper when new tech comes in.
2)NO.Computers don't burn out that easily.
3)6870 vs 560 is really up to what games you play.

Hi guys, got budget bout 1.2k, planning to make a game rig, be playing games like bf3, skyrim at high settings at 1900 by 1080 hd. What parts are recommended? Be gg down to sls to get the set up. Will not need screen and keyboard and mouse.

Prefer boot up using ssd and play games using harddisk.

And for pc does hdmi cable and rgb cable make a difference? Thanks for all help!

Hi guys,

I would like to build my first a DIY desktop, which hopefully can last me for 2-3 years. It will be mainly use for games like BF3, skyrim and upcoming D3 to be played at high settings. Besides gaming, it will also be used to watch movies and animes.

I do not plan to overclock. Usually will be using the com for 6-8hours in a non-aircon environment. The desktop will be placed on the floor. I would need an OS, but do not require monitor, keyboard and mouse. My budget is around 1.2k-1.5k.

Also, if I'm am going to connect the desktop to a 40inch TV, instead of a monitor, would it affect anything? eg: requiring better graphic card or cause overheating.

Any recommendations? Thanks in advance for your help:) !

Moneyface bro. I think you need to insert wifi dongle in the build recos. People tend to forget about them most of the time just in case they don't have one. :)

Hi mates,

It is my first time building the PC, so i really need your advice.
I want a budget gaming PC (range SGD1300-SGD1500) including monitor.
No overclocked.
With that budget, I want to be able to play modern games such as skyrim, BF3 and many more in High mode. (i dont know whether it is possible or not)
I also do not want to have my PC too noisy...

Thanks!
