Help with My 1st DIY PC

Hi! all. need some advice for my first DIY PC. I'm thinking of migrating some parts over to my new DIY PC from my old Pentium 4 PC. the parts i wana migrate over are 1 IDE DVD Drive, 1 Sata Hard Disk, 1 IDE Hard disk. the motherboard i'm considering for my build is MSI P45 Neo 2 FR. Need to clarify if current motherboards still have IDE slots for IDE based DVD drive & IDE hard disk. Can anyone advice if the new motherboard i'm considering can accomodate the tranfers? Thanks in advance.

Yes it has 1 IDE slot capable of supporting 2 IDE/PATA devices. However motherboard selection is only the tip of the iceberg - what is your max budget and more importantly main usage for this new proposd rig?

Read online reviews from real end users who have owned the particular piece of hardware you are interested in. DIY is much like cooking - wrong parts and the dish won't be delicious hehe For gaming you want to ask yourself what type of games u like and what sort of resolutions/settings you are comfy with and perhaps power consumption would be of interest? For normal user actually a E5200/G31 (Intel) with possibly a HD3450/GF8500 (graphics card, optional) or just x2 5000 with any 780G (AMD) will do nicely and not hit hard in there not so bottomless pockets =:p

erm. budget around 600 to 700 if possible. Max i can stretch is 800. Usage is basically converting videos, burn DVD, watch videos, gaming(Not particular abt graphics). Got an old graphic card ATI brand with 128mb vram. will migrate that over too. until in the future then upgrade when need arise.
