For Iems, if you like a analytical and detailed sound and don't mind a little less bass authority in your music then go for the Audio Technica CK10.

For Hps i would advice you to stay away from the srh840 as the sound is very technical and dry rather than musical. Audition the Grado sr225i, Denon D2000, AT A900, AD900 for that price range.

SRH 840 very analytical

The thick layered mids make it sound very natural to me.

Ever tried Klipsch Image X10i before? Retail in singapore is $569. But really good comfort and sound. Clarity is superb! I'm currently using Image S4i ($169) but saving up for X10i..
Saw them having try out booths for their in-ears and they have promoters there to clean the earbuds and let you try out. great service i must say.
For that price of X10i, i will rather you buy the Earsonics SM3 / even Westone 3, i think these 2 pretty much blow X10i away, Unless you're wanting them only for iphones and don't have other source rigs then by all means, X10i IS one of the elites when it comes to iphone-compatible IEMS =)

I normally shun from Klipsch especially at local retail price.

My dilemma now is that I have a friend who is offering to sell me a brand new pair of Klipsch X10i for $369, or $200 less than what Tat Chuan is asking.

At this price, should I go for it? Or just go for Westone 2, Earsonic SM2, or even DBA-02.

My current portable music source is iphone4.

X10i is probably one of the best choice if are using iPhone4 also, the controller and microphone are good. But beware for parallel imports, not saying that don't trust your friend.. but just that somewhere i read online that there is such for Klipsch speakers and stuffs. But well, $569 is pricey but there's afterall 1yr warranty.

Personally X10i gives a different sound to me because other earphones that i tried before, the sound feels more 'located' at the ear area, whereas the X10i give a good compact sound within the head. No really sure if i'm expressing it well. hahaha

Earphones or headphones??

Iphone or hi-fi??

Iphone use I recommend this:

Hi-Fi use I recommend this:

Both are extremely comfortable and very good SQ for their field of use. I have changed several earphones and headphones, but at the end of the day I still stick by these.

Btw, I'm not a bass lover. More the orchestra, classical, vocal music lover.

X10i shouldn't be that cheap eh.. everywhere i go seems to be the same price.. i know for a fact their retail prices always the same one, unless the reseller themselves give discount, like at Challenger or Epi..

Well, I found one even cheaper than my friend's offer of $369. Basically ordered via vpost concierge, if use POSB or DBS, don't even have to pay handling fee. Plus shipping to Singapore estimated in total to cost less than S$310, plus Klipsch has a 2 year warranty for this, although have to be sent back to US. Another case, of local distributor chop carrot. I can also easily get the S4i shipped for under S$90, except in is far inferior a product.

haha it's because of the super low exchange rate nowadays.. big ticket items can all be bought cheaper, even your ipod touch and macbooks.. not exactly surprising that this is happening.. i've even going to buy my next iPod Touch and Macbook Pro from USA, seeing that the exchange rate are likely to drop even further..

warranty will be a big issue though.. =/ lucky iPod Touch and MBP is international warranty
