Lazy to take a pic....

I just acquired an ALO Reference 8 mini-to-mini 3.5mm, thought to replace my old ALO one which has the 30-pin connector, coupled with Apple's lightning-to-30-pin cable and plugged to my amp. I'm using a 6s Plus as my DAP.

Now comes the problem. I connected the new Reference 8 to the lightning-to-3.5mm short cable that comes with my 7 Plus and plugged to to my amp. Now I realised that it doesn't detect it as an output but via earphones direct, hence no sound.

So....is there no way to use it with my iPhone, or do I have to purchase another DAP with a 3.5mm output, or have I just wasted nearly $400?

For link for senfer 4in1? Can pawn Jupiter sure ?

I'm now into cheap ChiFi IEM's, bought the KZ ZS3 and ED12 previously, now just got a pair of Senfer 4in1 (the ED7 in pic was a gift) and I'm amazed at how good it sounds. Deep yet tight bass, perhaps mildly recessed mids and near sparkly treble (to me anyway), this badboy is making me consider selling off my Fitear Parterre and CA Jupiter. I kid you not, that's how good it sounds to me.....has nice synergy with my V20. The stock cable is on the left, I'd swapped out the stock cable and silicon eartips with Tinsel cable and Comply foam eartips.

The 4in1 is really solidly built, all metal shell with only the nozzle in plastic, the IEM's are relatively heavy, like the Jupiter. The Tinsel cable allows me to loop the cable over my ears, the stock one lets the cable hang down adding to microphonics.

How is the bass ? Usually small book shelves are lacking due to physical constraints

Sounds great. Sounds much bigger than its tiny size. Imaging is its forte, though soundstage and separation are very good too.

RRP is $1.9k now, this colour is no longer available, only regular glossy black is for sale. I got them used for a good price though, just 3 months old. I suspect they are not even fully burnt in.

Yep. One of the three limited ed colours.

I used to have a pair of cloned LS3/5A, those excel in vocals. The LS50 is much more versatile and genre friendly.

One word of advice. Though the LS50 is relatively affordable at $1.9k new, these babies really shine with good source and amp. I'm using the Lumin D1 as my source and also as digital pre to the Bel Canto Ref500S power amp, and I feel that a dedicated pre amp will definitely bring them to a next level.
They perform best with Class D Icepower amps. I tried them with my previous Ayon Class A tube & a friend's Cary power amp; both did not quite do the LS50 justice. So if you are interested in the LS50, be sure to try them with various amps if you can. YMMV greatly.

EDIT: Having said that, I personally feel that the LS50 is a no brainer at $1.9k, coz one will need to pay at least $3k minimum for other brands to get similar performance. That the LS50 is able to scale with electronics costing 10x its price tag and not sound out of place speaks volume about its value.

Jupiter is musical. If he likes bass and bright sound, definitely Jupiter isn't for him.

you make me want to give senfer 4in1 a try instead of buying cosmic ear ciem in which i auditioned and saved up since last year camjam....

For a 2 way smallish bookshelf, the LS50 has pretty big bass. Much bigger sound that one would expect. While the bass is quite impactful and big sounding, it could be more tight. I suspect it was intentionally tuned this way so that it would retain maximum musicality.
