Audio Technica ATH-AD700 - good buy?

Hi,

Just want to get some opinions on this headphone if it's a good buy @100 USD

http://www.amazon.com/Technica-ATH-A...4216170&sr=1-2

Add to note, i already have the sennheiser HD 555, are these much better than that?

Cheers,
manualvin

The AD700 is very good for gaming as per reviews.

I used it for listening to music from my PC. This headphone is bass shy headphone due to its open canned structure. But if you are looking for clarity and comfort, this is one of the best bang for buck headphone based on the Amazon price

Its not bass shy anymore once your pair with a good destop amp. E9 and maverick D1 are recommended here. The bass/dynamics improves by a lot. Last time amazon used to sell at 88usd. My $149.90 price is based on the 88usd price without quantity restriction.

The sound stage is improved if you move from hd555 to ad700 but you will need a destop amp for ad700 to truly shine like a shiny bright star.

I can tell you if you buy one piece from amazon. They will give it to you in a 4.0kg(if you're lucky) or a 5.0kg/5.5kg volumetric weight box, you can do the math yourself.
bank's e/r is about 1.35 or more.

I will be bringing in more soon, price of course increases due to the increase in cost price. Pm me if interested.

For real? Isn't it stated that shipping weight is 2 pounds?

I don't know about the AD700 but I'm currently using a AD900. For people who are used to muddy & bloated bass, you would probably find this to be bass shy. It isn't at all. You can definitely feel the impact of the bass. Of course, noting that I'm talking about the AD900, not so sure about the AD700. I don't see a huge improvement for the AD900 when amped.

YMMV

I dun think it's worth an upgrade. me thinks they are both at a similar level. Save for a bigger upgrade bahz. If u r adventurous (and dun mind voiding warranty), try the 555 mod loh.

PM me if u still interested in AD700 tho.

Hi,

Thanks for the recommendation, i see you also own the HD 555 so you're well placed to make the comment.

The velvet earpads on the AD700 do appeal to me but i guess you're right, save my money for a bigger upgrade, thanks!

Beyedynamic DT990 250 Ohm

Hiya,

I found this deal for about 180 USD, this should be a much better buy than the audio technica right?

beyerdynamic DT 880 Premium Headphones (250 ohms)
USD$244.40

U sure you are seeing 180usd ?

This definitely a lot better lah lol, however, you will need a decent amp to drive it. Therefore you need to add about ~$200-$300 more to your total cost.
