VDH? the solution? I think that's more like a contact enhancer. What are you planning to use it for?

WD40 also works in a kludge.

But if you want it really really clean and you have time, dip the contact in a weak acid like vinegar.

Is that like a wd40 though? Wd40 won't spoil the audio or mic cables right

Not really the same sd WD40... it's just that WD40 also happens to have derust / cleaning abilities. The deoxit is more specialized for this usage tho. Acid is also more specialized for this usage although the exactness is debatable.

TBH now what I'd just do nowadays is

Take a piece of tissue paper. Fold it a few times.

Use it to grab the 3.5mm or 6.5mm connector pin.

Grab hard and twist.

See lots of shyt left on the tissue.

There. Good for another 6 months.
ssheavy and alamakazim like this.

Deoxit more ex but good buy if you have a decent setup and likes to maintain the connection and cables on a regular basis.

Ronsonol Lighter Fluid $2.50 good for cleaning contact and quite commonly use by H/P repair shop.

Isppropyl or Alcohol swap purchased from pharmacy.
