Fiio K1 alternatives?

Looking for:

- USB DAC first and headphone amp second
- As small as possible but sturdy construction (e.g. aluminum housing)
- $70 USD or less
- Can achieve 0.001% THD or at least within 10dB of it in DAC mode
- Buy from Amazon or Newegg or Best Buy or Walmart (So no China brands or Jaben)

Currently seeing Fiio K1, but that one slightly misses the THD performance. Anything else?

The choices...

Xonar U7 is definitely screwing up the market, since it dominates the performance vs price. Price-wise and size-wise it falls short of my requirements, but the functionality of a USB-based measurement/recording device remains useful after I return to SG...

At the $40 mark there is Fiio K1 and HiFiMeDIY. The HiFiMeDIY is a star performer in terms of value once U7 is taken out of the equation, but the physical durability is questionable and does not have a headphone amp. On the other end we have Fiio K1 which has worse performance but solidly-built and has a headphone amplifier.

A key to break the tie might be Xonar U5 which is currently $60 after rebate. If it has performance close to U7 then it would be a no-brainer. But finding a good RMAA measurement of it is proving difficult. Actually, scratch the U5; ASUS has been honest with their specifications - they are usually accurate to within 3dB. And they label the U5 as 0.005% so the performance is definitely out.
