headset for PC gaming

I'm thinking of getting a headset with mic for my PC. It will be mainly use for gaming with occasional music and movie. I have my w3 for music.

I have no idea where to start looking since this is my first time looking for one... heck, I don't even know what are the available brands for headset with mic.

The only brands I know are logitech and razor. Can someone tell me what are the other brands or models that are available in Singapore? Any recommended headset?

What's with the surround sound (e.g. 5.1... 7.1) that some headset have? Is it just a gimmick or will there be a big difference like able to identify the location of the enemy?

Thanks a lot.

Might wanna sell my Audio Technica AD700.

Superb soundstage for this price, but I got too lazy putting these cans on. I'm a quick-gamer, 1 round of BC2, 15 mins and I'm off

So, current ATP3 speakers are doing me fine. The AD700 are a waste for my usage, super under-utilized

PM if keen

Steelseries makes good headsets. Check out their siberia V2.

I believe that the surround sound will actually help with 3D pin pointing of enemy location but I can't say for sure as I have not tried these out personally.
