Hoot the HD6xx first and endure the hollow sound until can get a decent amp
Schiit magni decent enough for entry level amp in your opinion?
I'm thinking of abandoning my sound card as it's 10 years old and some functions aren't working. Any recommendation for DAC around US$ 150? Preferably have a S/PDIF input.
Most of my mp3 are in 320kbit

Can get the magni modi combo, quite cheap and cheerful.

Schiit stack is decent enough as an entry amp/dac combo which has enough power for most headphones and if you prefer to have SPDIF input you can always get the Modi 2 uber.

Managed to hoot one, don't think my current USB powered budget amp can power it. Last time buy budget one cos didn't think would be buying high impedance headphones.

Any budget amps then can be used to drive it? I will buy DAC later down the road or use current nuforce u-dac for now

Thanks. There is such a thing as a coaxial to USB adapter if my source only has coaxial output and I connect to the non uber modi USB input right?

Mojo really struggles with hard to drive headphones, from my experiences with my unit before I sold it. For eg, it sounded horrible with the Beyer T1, while my O2 amp was able to make it sing.

Probably the Oppo HA2 is within your budget but I'm not convinced that it has the power to properly drive the HD6XX.

The only other dac+amp that might possibly sound good and is near your budget is the Teac UD301. I have not heard it before but you may be able to try it at E1. It's about 300USD.

If I'm not wrong for the Magni and Modi users here ship straight from Schiit US cos local distro SLT Technology pricing very power! But do contact them for latest pricing.

Lucky they quote me Jothunheim price quite reasonable
