Talking Search for new DAP!

Hi People,

Been awhile since I've been here.

My Shanling M2 gave me a BSOD. Hanged on every attempt to play a song. Tried multiple sd cards, all don't work. Tried to Update software, cannot, reset to factory settings cannot. So I think it's safe to assume the player faulty.

First things first, does anyone know where I can fix it? If not then the search begins.

Budget about $200 can go up a bit, but don't want to spend too much.

Just need to play normal stuff, mp3s, if can spotify or radio would be best.

Was looking at agptek, fiio, and even back to shanling, but not sure which one is good.

Currently using my old X3 gen1, which i use to burn in earphones as substitute.

Recommendations from the pros would be great.

thanks!

thanks for the replies!

was looking at Sony, but they don't take micro sd cards. didn't know that Sandisk clip can take sd cards, might buy one for the heck of it.

found a deal for Fiio X3 iii, for about $270, brand new.

also Astell Kern AK Jr used for $275.

either worth a shot?

something i did notice after swapping back to the old x3, is that everything sounds "darker", i don't know how else to put it.

the m2 was quite a bit brighter, and crisp. not sure if it makes sense.

Sony DAP does take microsd card. I am using a pre-own Sony NW-A35 which i paid $240 from Carousell. It is almost perfect to what i need for a DAP. Only downside is it takes quite long to power on...

as of now, likely will end up with a Sony A35, which i think is a phased out model, cos all i see in the stores are A40 i think.

thanks!

I am using this now too, pretty much fit almost everything I want in a DAP. I tried Shanling M1, but the Bluetooth doesn't work well with my Bluetooth earbuds, so I changed to Sony A35. The only fault I can point out is the powering on is freaking slow...

managed to grab one at $200, brand new but from what i understand there's no local warranty, quite like it.

music seems a bit brighter compared to the fiio x3 gen1, but a bit darker then the shanling m2.

everything seems to work as it should, didn't have time to try the BT, but i do like the fact that it is NOT only touchscreen based, i can skip tracks without turning on the screen.

it almost feels like they made this like a phone, startup and shutdown takes awhile, but with such long standby hours, maybe that's what it is for? just guessing, i'll try it out, (not shut down) maybe later on and report back.

only thing i don't like is the proprietor charging point. but i did order some from tb already, just need another usb port for it.
